Undead and thier DR question

Rules Questions

So I see that skeletons have dr 5/blunt, but against a wizard of spell caster do they get thier DR vs burning hands and magic missle, oh and an alchemist bomb?? Im just not totally clear on it. The book is straight forward with saying that it has DR to all but blunt weapons but a wizard would get chopped up pretty quickly at a lower level if thier spells have to penetrate dr. Am I reading this correctly?? Thanks.

Damage Reduction only applies to physical attacks. Spells unless specified wont be subject to damage reduction. It is on the other hand subject to Energy Resistance or Immunity.

Ahh thats better, just fought some skeletons last weekend and got totally rocked, had an alchemist and a witch throwing spells and bombs at them but the DM saw the DR as being applied to all forms of attack. So we might have to fix a few things. Thanks for the quick reply.

Note that skeletons are immune to cold, too.

Geez one would think a bomb would sneak through as 'explosive damage' is blunt "force".

Even though it doesn't specifically 'say' that in the rules. It's not hard to see a bomb would be like a club that effects everything in a radius.

Actually, bombs do fire damage.

The skeletons in question would not get their DR for spells like Burning Hands or Magic Missle, DR only effects physical damage.

So the skeletons would get thier DR against the bombs of an Alchemist if i'm not mistaken, seeing as how the bombs are physical and not a spell or even a spell-like ability.

is it? i thought they had to buy some discovery to make it fire, or acid or whatever

so its more of a molotov cocktail and less of a "grenade" then, huh?

My mistake all energy attacks overcome DR, missed it on the first read through.
