Just a general question (ok, prompted by my waiting). How long after a window that a shipment should arrive before I notify you that it never got here?
(I did read the FAQ, and note the information listed there). Call me antsy I guess. :-)
Honestly, I really don't like to put such a definite time frame on things like this. The best answer is almost always going to be "a little while longer".
However, I know that this is a non-answer. :)
An easy rule-of-thumb is to wait about double the maximum estimated delivery time. This works on the assumption that we're giving the package time to get almost all the way to you via the slowest means and then be returned to us, also via the slowest means. For most packages, this will be way more time than is needed. However, for an untrackable shipping method, additional time is the only tool we have to figure out whether the package has been delayed, returned, or lost.
By far the most usual outcome is that the package has just been delayed. Therefore we always want to make sure that the package is not going to show up right after we've put a replacement in the mail to you. Once we've sent a replacement, it's gone. If the original should show up (and this happens) then you have two books. If you send the extra back to us, the likelihood of it being in a salable condition when we get it is almost nil.
All this being said... I do want to hear when your books are running late by a week or two. You can usually expect a reply along the lines of: "Please give it another (week/couple of weeks/whatever) and let us know then", but this will put you on our radar. It is also helpful information for us to know how long shipments are taking in general and how often delays happen.
Thanks,

Thanks for the excellent answer. You are the first group on the West Coast I've worked with, so West Coast shipping times for me are a new beast. It's good information and I'll keep it in mind. It helps that I already have the PDFs, so I'll try to settle down for another week or so and get back to you then. :-)
Thanks
