going to start a new character and was thinking of eventually going for shadowdancer and was wondering a good build for my rouge. any advice on making a viable surviveable rouge?
Here's a build that I thought up for PFS play (20pt build, 12 level cap):
Human Rogue(trapsmith)9/Shadowdancer3
STR 14 [5pts]
INT 07 [-4pts]
WIS 14 [5pts]
DEX 19 (17+2 racial) [13pts]
CON 14 [5pts]
CHA 07 [-4pts]
(Can adjust STR/INT/CHA to taste for -3pts net)
Favored class: rogue (6 towards an extra talent, 3 to skills/hps)
Traits: Heirloom Weapon (flying talon), other to taste (reactionary, nonchalant thuggery, etc)
Feats: Weapon Finesse (talent), Dodge, Mobility, Combat Reflexes, EWP: flying talon (talent), Skill Focus: Stealth, Hellcat Stealth, Combat Patrol, conceal scent, lookout.
Talents: Finesse Rogue, Combat Feat, Trap spotter, fast stealth, stand up, slow reactions
Skills: Stealth, Perception, Disable Device, Acrobatics, Dance(3 ranks), UMD, and dips.
Trapsmith variant loses uncanny dodge, but 3rd level shadowdancer gives it to you. You still lose improved uncanny dodge, but that's the lesser ability imho. In general you use combat patrol either with haste or an exped retreat for movement to keep being hidden (via moving before/after the AOOs). After you sneak attack someone they can't make AOOs until the start of their next turn, letting others disengage (as well as yourself). Traps of course you own. In fact you can take quick disable instead of stand up (or another talent/feat, you could elect to go with the Qadira trait on fast stealth rather than the talent, etc)
