Question concerning mounts

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

Okay I have this scenerio planned out but I'm not sure about something. The scene is the PCs have their backs to a pit and in front of them are kobolds mounted on rams and armed with lances. My plan is to have the kobolds charge and hit them with their lances and then the rams would bullrush the PCs into the pit.
Keep in mind that this would be similar to a knight on horseback charging, attacking with a lance and then overrunning the target.
So basically what I'm asking is can a mount perform an attack or combat maneuver at the same time or on the same turn that the rider attacks?

yes and no, at least not with lances.

The mount and its rider can both charge a target. The things is that the attack has to come at the end of the charge. The Kobold's attack has to come at 10 feet away (when he can use the lance). The mounts bullrush would have to happen when they were in an adjacent square, which is too close for the lance to attack.

To get around this, you need the feat ride by attack: this is how you do the knights hit and run off thing. One of its uses is to attack wit the lance and then continue the charge to let the mount attack.

Okay thanks a lot. Those PCs aren't going to know what hit 'em.
