I actually got a chance to check out the Ultramarines movie. The animation isn't too pretty, but overall the movie was decent. It's a little pricey though.
I think a 40k movie would be a little hard to introduce to a wide audience; I wonder how much of the generic sci fi audience would watch a 40k movie and I often ponder what storyline a movie would have to take to make it big; 40k is one genre I would find hard to write.
Actually I can see the Ultramarines Movie being quite popular in the main stream. You have had years of novels, and video game support expanding the fan base of the 40k universe. It would be easy to write a story about a squad of Marines, or an Inquisitoral Retinue. Its already been done years ago with the fan based movie Damnatus. I agree with Fangs' comments about the movie. Its biggest drawback is the price.
