If it was a reference library or preservation center, I would agree, but circulation libraries already have maximum exposure to infestation regardless of whether they take in donated materials.

I ended up throwing nearly 75% of my books away, moving from Michigan to TX. I still miss some of them....

Hope the packing and throwing and donating and such goes well!

Ok, I wish I could be that Zen, but I truly do feel for you and hope the irritations lessen. :)

I'll get back to catching up on the post backlog in a moment, but in the meantime I'm back home safely after my 900 mile drive today, but the Colorado Springs area is on fire again!
After the $100,000,000 plus in damage last year can we please get some f!&~ing rain!? Please before more folks are killed.
Grrrr.........

Celestial Healer wrote:My condolences, CH.On a more somber note, I found out that my aunt passed away last night. She is the first one of my parents' generation (on either side) to die. I always liked her, although she lived far away and I saw her very infrequently.
It was not unexpected by any stretch. She died from complications related to diabetes and had chosen to cease her dialysis treatments a few weeks ago because she had no quality of life anymore. That will kill someone very quickly, but she was at peace with her decision.

I feel like playing some PS3 today when I get home. However, something tells me my spoiled brat of a younger brother has other plans for me, considering that he's hogging the TV and using it as a computer screen. Hell, he's the only reason why I'm hesitant about buying Dragon's Crown. Him seeing the Sorceress would be awkward as hell...

Been thinking about my own campaign setting's pantheon for some reason.
- Why did I give the resident god of death and execution a link to dragons? Aside from slaying a chaotic dragon deity in ages long past, he has nothing to do with them. They're not part of his portfolio, though him having a dedicated order of dragon slayers is kind of a cool twist to an otherwise relatively generic deity. Feel free to disagree with me on this.
- After playing some Dark Souls again, I just imagined the god of the undead in my setting wearing the kind of ethereal cloak that covers Gravelord Nito, except that this guy's shroud is made purely of negative energy and makes him even more lethal than he usually is. That, and I might let his Clerics gain a spell with a similar effect. Would be the first time I come up with a homebrew spell, so I feel excited!!
I should probably set the pantheons up a bit more when it comes to the interactions between deities. That, and I also need to determine which faiths have influence in which country and why. This goes for deities of all alignments.

I'm glad you're home, but I'm not glad CS is dealing with wildfires.

Seeing people complain about their bosses makes me feel very lucky. Other than a three-month stint at telemarketing and a one-month stint at Safeway, I haven't had a boss I disliked. Maybe disliked the jobs, but the bosses were generally pleasant enough, or I never interacted with them.
I blame most of my jobs after those two being temp-agency jobs though. It's hard to be a bad boss toward someone when you specifically asked them to be there, I imagine, and their paycheck isn't 100% dependent on you. (Now watch someone with repeated bad temp experience show up and prove me wrong.)

I left a job I had been at for 12 years when it became abundantly clear that the a+%#+%~ manager was never going to leave. Of course, since then, I've seen that he really was just a symptom of the corporation's general attitude towards its employees. So, I'm glad I left regardless of whether he stuck around or not.

I've been lucky (and unlucky, but not too often.) My 10-12 years before katrina was with supervisors who actually worked with us, and were usually pretty cool to be around. I actually liked them. And my current boss I pretty much never see. So I really have nothing to tell him. (Most days I can pretend I am my own boss.) :)
The University itself sometimes,... that's another story,... :(
I have a few things I'd like to tell 'them'. But not until I get a real job.
Oh, wait, I'm too BUSY to look for a real job! :/
