I very nearly cut off my nose, it required 17 stitches. And I can't watch that episode of King of the Hill anymore.
Edit: my mini bobcat (called an MT 85) was 5 feet from the edge of the hill when it collapsed so it's not like I was on the edge or anything, I was being pretty cautious.
I missed a day of work because of that.
I remember that happening.
Damn glad you didn't lose your nose.

Okay, here's a random personality question:
Someone is attempting to put the moves on you. What song (or album) do they put on the stereo to guarantee a crit on their seduction roll?
It doesn't work that way for guys.
A better question is what song do you put on when you're looking for a success.

Okay, so answer that way. What's your go-to?

Lafayette Afro Rock Band - Darkest Light
That, or 'Baby Got Back'.

Oh man. Whatever song they like?
Music is so incredibly personal, there's no one song that will work for everyone.
If it were me being seduced, the music that indicated the type of sex one would like to have would work best. There's a world of difference between I Want To F~~# You Like An Animal and Love To Love You Baby and Wild Thing, for example.beat.
Then of course, there's this.

Laid by James, In The Meantime by Space Hog is surprisingly effective, or for some reason anything by CCR.

Crookshanks and I finished the kitchen we were working on.
It looks pretty spectacular!
My favorite quote I had when looking over her handiwork "it looks great! I have no notes"
Which, considering she basically built it while I handled all the cutting, and it's her first outdoor kitchen, is pretty impressive!

Anyone has a good recommendation which free antivirus should I pick for windows 11, once the free trial of pre-installed mcaffe ends?
Avast? TotalAV? BitDefender?
Are there any other ones that are free, instead of offering a short time free trial?
AVG has a forever free shareware function that does 95% of the valuable stuff that the pro version has. Unless the company that runs it is bought out or is passed onto a new leadership team who decides to gut it and nuke their years of good will you can't go wrong with it.

We have a couple of those, or at least that size, one is a different brand. And then we have another slightly smaller one with tires instead of tracks for loading and unloading at the shop.
We generally have 3 skid loaders and one excavator operator out digging shit out and building boulder walls.

Or you can just go with the built-in Windows Defender. It really isn't bad and isn't a massive resource hog like most AV programs are.

Win 11?
It might be actually working without account, I am not sure - it's just that opening its window when you try to see its functions leads you to <log in into m$ account*> and nothing else.
*logging into account means acceptance of conditions and privacy policy

Win 11?
Yes. I got a new laptop 3(?) years ago and have never set up a Microsoft account. It takes some effort, and I routinely have to say "remind me in 3 days" when it asks if I want to finish setting up my computer.
But I get popup notices that Windows Defender didn't find any baddies, so I assume it works.
I also did not install the "free" McAfee antivirus that came with the computer. It quit asking if I wanted to finish setting that up too, after my included 2-year warranty ran out.

So.
Aiymi was scheduled for a procedure on July 17th.
Aiymi was also scheduled as a witness for a court case on the same day.
Aiymi called to reschedule the procedure. It got cancelled and was called within a week and was told July 3rd. She has a formal letter with it as well.
Except nobody told the hospital. She's not on the schedule at all.
All I ask in life is basic competence. Where can I go where basic competence doesn't feel unobtainable?

It does "amuse" me that at the moment you posted this, I'm dealing with the same sort of stupidity:
March, 2023: Impus Minor attempted to make a $30 online purchase. It triggered a fraud warning and we got a robocall. We cleared the charge. We got another robocall the next day. We cleared it again. We got a third robocall the third day in a row. We called a human being. She said she'd clear it up. We got a fourth robocall on the fourth day. We cleared it. The robocalls thankfully ended... for the moment.April-December, 2023: Every month the clear reset and the robocalls started up again. I finally gave up and blocked the number.
December, 2023: We got a call from a human being. "Why haven't you been responding to the robocalls?" We explained. In profuse detail. They apologized and said they'd fix it.
March, 2024: The robocalls started up again. Because so many people had blocked their number, they changed the number of the robodialer to get it past call blocking.
April-June, 2024: Three more months of start-of-the-month robocalls.
July, 2024: We blocked the fraud number again.
Heaven forfend they ever have an actual fraud issue.

Me: Well, that doesn't sound creepy at all.

Aiymi: Aww...I thought this was the fun hospital!

I've figured out that the doctors already know everything so I have to talk to the nurses. Item one is me waving is NOT me having convulsions, I just want you to know I'm awake and probably need a few more rounds. Item 2 is do NOT offer to hold my hand, fingers are valuable and could be crushed. Item 3, you can tie me down to the table but do not count on the table lasting, the last two did not. *kudos on the silk tape though that stuff was strong...*

I ended up working longer than Pako yesterday, the 3rd time this year I've done it.
No one works longer than Pako.
Unfortunately, I'll probably rack up a few more days like that in the next couple of weeks. Former Coworker f!@&ed up his job so hard when he quit I literally had to pull it all up and start over.

I swear, at this point Impus Minor would be perfectly justified in changing credit unions:
(1) After he ignored the latest round of warnings, they locked his card... the afternoon before a bank holiday, ensuring he wouldn't have access to his account for the maximum time possible.
(2) I signed in to his online account to try to help him clear things up and I learned:
- You can't even SEE that your card is locked from your online account.
- I was going to add his cell phone number and set it as the preferred number, but it turns out I'd already added his cell phone number, they don't have a "preferred number" setting, and so, since they had the house number, they never called nor texted the cell... in spite of a week of being unable to reach him on the home number.
So, I am the last person to advocate preferentially using a cell phone number. I appreciate an old-schoool, "Use the original number you were given until the customer asks you to change."
But making it impossible for the customer to request a change is just plain terrible. We may have to delete the home number just to enable cell phone alerts. Even worse is having a secondary number, being unable to reach the customer at the primary number, and not even trying the secondary number before locking the account.

I've been watching mediocre movies, so far I've watched Mortal Engines and The Flash and I'm currently watching Warcraft.
Mortal Engines is pretty good.
The Flash is okay.
Warcraft is boring as f!!&. Like should be used to torture people boring.
Which is pretty f%+#ed up considering it's based on a war game.

I have finished Dishonored: Death Of The Outsider. It was a good game, if short (five mission total). Dishonored 2 was a little more than twice as long.
Entering this rich setting with complex environment and extensive lore again was a pleasant experience, and at the same time, a sad reminder of later Arkane's fall...
