Dragon Age is an awesome game to play and you are totally justified in being excited to see past the death of the archdemon. :)

Had a nice, if short, weekend home with my family.
We saw Transformers 3, and, well, it didn't improve my opinion of the franchise. I will refrain from my Freeholdian hate-filled rant, but I will say that I didn't even bother to shush the people behind me who were loudly narrating the movie as it went along.

Ah it was that good eh. Well I will put that on the list of movies to wait till they leave the theater then.
I have been wanting to see the new X-men film anyone like it?

It is good. If you have any familiarity with the X-Men comics leave that behind, because it does not really follow any sort of canon.

Actually, I try to watch comic book movies with the idea that I'm going to watch the movie for what it is. Comic books do not translate directly to movies, and it's silly when someone attempts to do it (*cough*Watchmen*cough*).

Ah, I did like the Watchmen movie, I thought it was well done, but I really liked the comic book as well. I know it did not do terribly well sales wise but I thought there were plenty of movies which I love like 1982 version of the Thing which did not do well in the theater but I at least thought were good.

Overall, I liked Watchmen, but there were some irritating things about it--namely, why they decided to deviate from the series for Veidt's plan if they were going to follow so closely to the series in nearly every other aspect.
The Thing was an excellent movie. The whole John Carpenter/Kurt Russell run worked very well. Are you going to see the remake of the remake?

watchman, blade, green lantern, daredevil and many others I had never even heard about before there was a movie
the comics I grew up with are: Asterix, Lucky Luke, Micky Mouse, Clever&Smart, Yps

It did not bother me so much about Veidt's plan being changed, I gathered it was to make the movie perhaps less expensive? The alien race created to destroy everything with mental powers may have lost the audience a little more than they already were. I actually thought the plan made the story a little tighter.
As for the new Thing I heard it was going to be a prequel not a remake of the remake, mind you I think Carpenter's remake was better than the orginal one of the few times that can be said.

I'm planning on getting Dragon Age 2 sometime in the next couple of months. And as soon as I finish playing through Awakenings (Yay for exapnsions so I'm not done with the game too soon.) I'm going to give Mass Effect a try. Our neighbor loaned it to us, and will also loan us Mass Effect 2 if we like the first one. Yes, our neighbor is awesome. :)
That said, I know full well that once school is back in session that I won't have much playing time at all. It'll go back to all homework all the time. Though it shouldn't be nearly as bad as last semester. At least the nightmares have stopped now. :)

Those are of a much different style and substance than mainstream American "comic books" which for years has been with few exceptions have been "superhero" comics. Stylistically you have three styles based mainly upon two companies. DC and Marvel.

We're playing in Golarion, but they don't know much about it, yet. We spent three years playing in the Scarred Lands and this is only the third session on Avistan.
One of the reasons we (or I should say I) switched over was there seemed to be a lot of thematic continuity between the two worlds (Calastia = Cheliax, for example, and the grimness of the setting).
I really like what I've read of Golarion (Vive la Galt!), but if Scarred Lands was still getting support, we'd probably still be there.

That's amusing, but I don't think Moore would care one way or the other. His apathy towards film adaptations of his work is pretty well-known.
I loved the comic, was pretty meh about the film.
I still cry at night speculating at what it would've looked like if Terry Gilliam had done it. Same with Harry Potter, actually.

Doodlebug Anklebiter |

I'll proudly go down on record as a fan of the Harry Potter books.
The movies, imho, were mostly pedestrian, with a notable improvement, again imho, when Alfonso Cuaron picked up the reigns for Prisoner of Azkaban.
You may be right about TG and HP, but, still, I wish he had helmed at least one of the films, just so I could see it.

I can understand why they changed it, but it was jarring in a movie that also presented scenes almost panel-by-panel from the series.

Just kidding. While I agree that Carpenter's film was vastly superior to the original black and white, that older movie does hold a bit of sentimental love from me. Back in the day, AMC used to do Friday night classic horror movies, and I remember that being one my dad and I loved watching.
