*SIGH*. I don't know where to vent, because if I vent anywhere else on the boards I will be inundated with advice as to how to "fix" things.
In short, I ran Crimson Throne for the larger group on Saturday. They are 5th level. Because of their utter ineffectiveness in combat so far, I upped them to 20-point builds, and have them at slightly-higher-than wealth by level.
In spite of all of these efforts, on Saturday the fighter and paladin combined to take 5 rounds to kill ONE zombie.
Not some "super uber" zombie. Just... a zombie. Admittedly, it had max HP, so it was AC 12, HP 19, DR 5/slashing, but... 5 rounds. With both the fighter and the paladin combining their efforts to down ONE zombie. Of the nearly two dozen in the building.
I weep for my campaign...
I love Crimson Throne. Wonderful plot.

Not to start an argument or rules war or anything, but I have to strongly disagree with the idea that D&D/PF is a defensive game... if anything it's the exact opposite, the game rewards direct offense and "enemies can't threaten you if they're dead/disabled" far more than playing defensively and waiting/outlasting the opponent.
always wondered why people never use their strongest attack first.

Yeah we're getting a tree this weekend as well:-)
We go to this little cliche mom and pop store 5 blocks away (Knoches Market) then the kids "help" me carry it home, and if it's snowing, not even Norman Rockwell can top that picture of light hearted familial togetherness, even the dog comes with. :-D

Two bedrooms, 700 square feet I think, has a nice yard, we're on a major bus route and bike path that goes right downtown, walking distance to food, work, school, booze (not that we're big drinkers, it's nice to have the option)and a shopping district with a farmer's market in the spring, summer and fall.

Sounds awesome to me. A little smaller than my ideal (900 sq ft is my idea of perfect, but only because we like to have 3 bedrooms. I snore. Like a lot. And I get real damn cranky about being woken up for it multiple times a night. It's better for everyone if I have my own sleeping space.) but with a location like that, I can totally understand wanting to stay. Plus smaller spaces take less upkeep. This was a big factor in getting rid of our big house in the burbs. I hated not being able to walk places easily, I hated having to spend hours and hours trying to keeps over 2000 sq ft clean, both of us hated yardwork with the fire of a thousand suns, and the payments were too big. Our current place is still a little big, but it's across the street from the kidlet's school and next door to a grocery store, and an easy walk to almost anywhere in town, so we're staying for at least the next year and a half. Sometimes you just gotta find what works for you and screw what everyone else thinks. If being a real adult requires misery (and/or facebook) I'll pass thanks. :P

Those must be some microscopic bedrooms.
Our house is listed on Zillow as 2 bedrooms, 1.5 bathrooms, 1388 square feet. I think that's a ludicrous overestimate, considering the footprint of the house is [(22'x17') + (25'x28')] = 1074 sq. feet, rounding up to the next foot on every measurement and including all the walls, closets, etc.
And while we have a very nice large living room, dining room, and kitchen (we believe in social areas), the bedrooms are teensy and the bathroom is pathetic.
I'm guessing you'd need a "real" 1300 square feet to have 3 bedrooms. And maybe that would earn you a decent bathroom.

I don't doubt it. Still, at least they're quiet (and look cool) :)
I know at least one person who has one in lieu of a lawnmower, so I'll have to ask him how it's working out...

So to be fair, the 1074 is the main house we live in, and I thought square footage was supposed to reflect "living space".
We have a leaky, uninsulated 1-car garage whose walls have rotted through for another 200 sq. ft. or so, and a 300 sq. ft. studio, 90 sq. ft. of which is an enclosed storage shed.
So:
And that's just too small for 4 people and 4 generations of other people's stuff.
As I said, the Zillow thing is a mystery to me, but not a particular concern, since I'm never going to sell.
Just like CY and Lenora, neighborhood is everything to me. Being able to walk a block and a half to a wonderful market run by an extended Korean family, then a farmer's market there on Sunday? Priceless..
