What'd I miss?

Not much?

Okay.

Your clothes, apparently. :p

Breakfast is always best au naturel.

Wow, sometimes youtube comments aren't horrible:

"And above all it's realistic and reflect this period in a good way. This kind of thing used to be bog standard. One would often meat each other in the woods and fight like crazies to the tunes of Tommy Körberg, and the winner got to bring a man in a skirt with them home."

Silver Crusade

Hello, all. What did I miss?

After some pause rain became even more intense and stormy... Now I am very-very happy that session was canceled...

Silver Crusade

I got complimented on my suit by a client today!

Time to get to the nitty-gritty.

Due to austerity measures, you must select either nitty OR gritty. Nitty-gritty is no longer available.

I had the brilliant idea to walk to the library. My legs are made of pain.

I wuv them. The insult done to the family was understated on the show and alluded to in the books.
Oh, I understand old Frey dude needed to avenge his family's honor. My problem was always the way they did it. Very cowardly and dishonorable. For that, I keep hoping Martin will kill off the entire family in the books.

Well if it makes you feel any better:

Yep. That's one part of the ongoing saga I've been enjoying. Also...

this may be an unpopular idea but ** spoiler omitted **

Spoiler:
While I agree that Robb probably had something coming, the murder of himself, his mother, and many of their friends, bannermen, allies, and soldiers was - in my own humble opinion - a bit much.

On the other hand, my main reason for disliking the Frey's (and that Bolton douch as well) is the cowardly way they went about the whole let's murder our ally (or king) and suck up to Tywin Lannister.

Not to mention I just personally thought Walder Frey was a creepy old perv, not unlike Craster. Although David Bradley's portrayal of him in the TV series has lessened my dislike of him somewhat.

a bit much? This is got, man, death Is the only thing most people in the world understand. But I understand, and you are entitled to your opinion. To me, Bolton was more of a naked villain- obviously unhinged. The Freys had been pissed on too long and were not going to take it anymore. Keep in mind that that is a theme in this series of books.

Anti-Frey rantings

Spoiler:
People back out of marriage pacts all the time. It's really not that big a deal. Ol' Walder 'I'm marrying my ninth wife at 95 and she's 15' Frey agreed to marry one of his (many) daughters to Edmure Tully in recompense, which was something he wanted all along anyway. Then, with the collusion of the Boltons, went against guest-right, which is a sacred trust that once you have given someone meat and mead you WILL NOT harm them.

It wasn't about the marriage or the breaking of a betrothal. If Walder thought he could get a better deal by knifing Robb in the back even if he hadn't married Jayne, he would have. Even if his daughter was upstairs with him, freshly married he's likely do it all the same anyway. He's just that kind of conniving, low-life, backstabbing worm. And I hope all his sons get baked into pies and eaten by their siblings.

I'm about as entertained by the internet reacting to ASoIaF/GoT as the internet seems to be by the series itself. And it comes without the price of every character I like dying!

Maybe one day I'll actually pick it up.

It does me the favor of justifying my dislike of the series without having to read it. I don't like my fantasy as filled with... well, hyper-realistic portrayals of human nature as SoIaF is based around. If I'd been introduced to the series with nothing more than "This is good! You really need to read it!" I probably would have, then gotten more and more disappointed as it went on and got grungier and more depraved before finally throwing the book(s) away in disgust.

I don't like my fantasy coming that close to the wretchedness that is normal human behavior IRL. So the series is just very much not for me.

That pretty well describes my actual reaction to the books. Well, that and pick a narrative viewpoint and stick with it, dammit! I ended up giving up on the show thanks to the books even though I had been enjoying the show before that.

I'm kind of surprised my clarifying edit went through, heh. I figured it'd get eaten since the boards went down about then >_>

iirc, westeros is not a land where you can troll your promises. Oathbreaking is extremely serious. A wiser frey would have called stark on his cold feet and that would have really caused an political/social issue that could have destroyed the kitn and his army more thoroughly than the red wedding itself. But he was pissed at yet again being told that he should be glad to march his family to their deaths in a war he wanted no part of (unless he was sure he was on the winning side) and got stupid. His family will pay the price they should, but robb sure ain't innocent in westerosi eyes and ESPECIALLY in the eyes of the old gods he sorta kinda worships. He was doomed the instant he killed his kin.

So, remember the rambling rant about a week or so ago?

The Education department head approved a course extension to allow the assignments to be submitted. This allows me to pass the class, and means my student teaching & graduation will NOT be delayed.

In other news, Eureka is an awesome show. Too bad I didn't discover that out before it was cancelled.

That sounds like my relationship with Firefly.

Somebody should hack TVTropes. Preferably before the dawn comes and catches me on another hyperlink binge through the abyss...

didn't the show get a good ending?

Well, the party just bypassed a fight with a bearded devil by IDing a dimensional lock spell, goading it into dropping its weapon, and slamming the door.

Aaaaand dropped the possessed weapon into the repeating pit, creating an endless loop of terminal velocity stabbing.

Probably for the best. Things that talk in your head rarely end well.

The future... is in the past!

Maybe I should change my profile pic to a night owl. That's all I seem to do any more is stay up, work late, sleep late, etc.

*Sigh*

Feeling melancholic this week...

...but I look forward to Kingmaker this week.

*yawn*

Was my every damn dream interrupted by sound or something this night?

Because my brother wakes me up every morning before my alarm clock gets the chance to do so. Apparently him spending time on the computer is more important than me getting the proper amount of sleep, even though he's a spoiled 10-year old brat slacking off at school while I have to be up and awake to work almost every damned day...

A - Because he killed all 140 characters.

Also, there's an awesome article on i09 compling a bunch of tweets regarding Sunday's episode.

Also, my wife told me (and I have since confirmed) that there's a book drop box in the parking lot of a strip mall down the road aways. So, that solves part of my book problem.
