Heard the rumor that Disney would like to buy Hasbro. Interesting. I hope it happens. Although I couldn't see a deal like that going through for at least another year or two. Disney just shelled out $4 billion in the Lucas deal. Another such significant outlay of cash would probably have to wait.
Doesn't Hasbro own WotC?

I know they've got My Little Pony as well, making innumerable crossovers all the more hilariously (im)plausible.

That's less fun. A trained voice actor isn't going to break character and start laughing/swearing the same way someone at the gaming table would.

It would essentially give Disney majority control of a large portion of the entertainment that comes through to children of either gender.

You underestimate the entertainment value of the Mouse at your own peril.

The Disney Channel sadly does not provide the requisite schadenfreude for my purposes.

When I was about 8 or 9, Swedish public service TV finally managed to shake up enough money to show Disney stuff more than once a year and started a weekly 1-½ hour Disney program. It was marvellous - several classic shorts with Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse and/or Goofy, an episode of either Duck Tales or the ...Bumbi Bears(?), and most glorious of all - an old black and white live cast TV-version of Zorro.
That last one got so popular they even started issuing a Zorro comic book for the first time since before my dad was a kid.

Bluh. I'm going back to bed.
Stupid phone, waking me up for a sub job...and then hanging up before I can get to you...and then falling on the floor when they call again...and hanging up when I pick you up because it's too dark to see the end call button.
This is why rotary-dial phones rock(ed).
It is known.

If you can ever find it, the Disney channel made a TV miniseries back in 1963 called The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh, staring Patrick McGoohan. He plays a preacher who masquerades as a rebel (The Scarecrow) against the British King. AWESOME flick. I've got it on DVD.
Edit: That and the movie The Black Hole. If you've never seen it, you're missing out.
