Buying/crafting a keen falchion or taking the improved critical (falchion) feat?

For me it depends on the gold vs feats availible ratio. Assuming neither is a factor I would go with the feat since it can be applied to any falchion.

If the above is a factor I normally pay for it unless I have a fighter or another class with enough feats that lets me believe I can spare one.

I am thinking about a ranger, a switch hitter in particular.

I would plan out my feat progression without it, and if I had a feat that I felt was less than improved crit I would switch it out. If not I would go with keen unless the DM was loot stingy or made it hard to get the magic items you might want.
