Thanks for the selection. I have enjoyed the interaction with Solomon in Boomer's as well. Looking forward to the adventure. I will refine Filios' stats and background based on updated posting over the next hour, or so. To echo Solomon's comments...do we need to write ourselves out of Boomer's, and would you like us to arrive together based upon prior interractions? I can write that up, if you like? I also understand Kaer Maga to be a city of less than desiresome citizens...cutthroats and thieves. Is that accurate?

sunshadow21 |

For simplicity sake, it would probably be easiest for at least these characters to leave Boomer's; if you want to send another one in in their place, go right ahead. As for Kaer Maga, it certainly sounds like it has is less desirable districts to visit, including one where necromancers freely practice their art in public.

Filios |

It appears that Darren and Petvar are already present in Kaer Maga. Solomon, Morthos and Filios are not. If Solomon agrees, Filios and he will likely arrive together from prior interractions.
To Morthos:
Any thoughts on how you want to arrive at Kaer Maga? Solomon and I met at a caravan bar...I am sure we could somehow meet up with you on the way?

Morthos von Janderhoff |

You have greataxe listed under combat and greatsword listed under equipment, make it one or the other please.
Ah. That was definitely a typo. The greataxe is Morthos' deity's favored weapon, so he will be wielding one of those. A Greatsword might be slightly more optimal, but then again, a 14hp first level wizard who likes to mix-it-up in close combat is not exactly optimal, either (either he is quite hilarious ;-)
As to why Morthos is in Kaer Maga, I would argue that he has travelled to that great merchant hub to investigate the local forges, and possibly the golem works, so meeting some other PCs on a caravan whilst enroute would be fine...

sunshadow21 |

Morthos, as long as it is one or the other, I am not worried about which one it is. If the travelers want to play out the trip a bit, or at least the part where Morthos meets up with the others, they can; if they would prefer not to, than once Solomon and Filios have left Boomer's, and everyone has complete profiles, I can start the introductory stuff.

Filios |

I agree Solomon. Picks up upon our departure from Boomer's Bar and Grille. GM: Where exactly was Boomer's located? Not sure how long a journey we will be on...
Filios and Solomon woke to what promised to be a great day. They decided to forego the caravan headed to Absolom in exchange for travel into the nation of Varisia. Filios had obtained local information regarding the opportunity for adventure in the City of Strangers, Kaer Maga.
Glad you decided to join me Solomon. After such a brief respite, it is good to be back on the road and headed towards what could be a very exciting and prosperous adventure. I was thinking that it may be best to hire ourselves out to the first available merchant as scouts or guards to ease the trip...safety in numbers and all of that, eh?

sunshadow21 |

To start some rping going, Filios, Solomon, and Morthos can rp meeting in the journey to Kaer Maga, while Darren and Petvar can rp between each other. Petvar, you have have been tasked with finding new recruits for your squad, and that takes you to the school that Darren just got kicked out of. Having heard of a particularly rambunctious student who just got expelled that sounds like he meets most of the requirements laid out by your superiors. Having tracked him down, you now approach him as he is eating lunch at a popular outdoor cafe.

Solomon Wise-axe |

"Aye, that sounds like a good idea my elf friend. Tell me, what do you know of this city we are travellin to?"
Cause I really dont know much about Kaer Maga at all, other thats where the Godsmouth Heresy is set.
I dont know if you checked over my profile yet, and I hope you dont mind, but I didnt pay anything for the chess set I have listed, as the stones werent supposed to be anything special, and Solomon would have carved them himself.

Petvar Tarmikos |

Petvar walks up to the café looking through the crowd settled there. Spotting his target, Petvar weaves his way through the crowd with ease until he is standing before the young man he was sent to talk to about the GM if you would be so kindly to give me a name for our squad I would appreciate it.
Sizing the young man up, Petvar pulls out a chair and sits down at the table opposite the young man. Looking down at the table he says, ”Good afternoon, Darren Roy. How is the food?”
Petvar does not have any weapons out, he appears calm and collected, like he knows what he is doing and that he should be there. Like someone who happened to see a friend eating lunch and decided to sit down with them for a while. Petvar is wearing studded leather armor beneath a black cloak. The hood is down and you can see his brown hair with a few strands of white mixed in. They don't appear quite natural, he looks too young to already have white hairs. He appears to be in his mid twenties despite the white hair. He has a slight smirk on his face with a hint of a smile in his green eyes. He sets his hands out on the table, they are strong hands, and they look like they are used to holding a sword. He looks up from the table into Darren's eyes.

What I have been able to glean about Kaer Maga itself. It is a former prison colony of the Thassilon Empire that is now home to refugees, ne'er-do-wells, and other similar social groups, and it's built on a site whose history predates even the Thassilon Empire. It sits on top of a cliff that has giant carvings of faces and bodies carved into it, some with openings to the inside caverns, tunnel, and chambers that are collectively known as the Undercity. One of the most famous entrances to the Undercity is in the mouth of the face known as the Unnamed King, which houses a series of catacombs known as the Godsmouth Ossuary, the most prestigious burial site in Kaer Maga. It watched over by the clergy of Pharasma, whose cathedral sits at the top of the cliff just above the entrance. That is the relevant knowledge the travelers would have picked up about the city and the site of this adventure.

Filios |

I hear from some reliable sources that it is a hodgepodge of outsiders and strangers that relish the anarchy that rules the streets. I also hear that it sits high on a plateau that does not receive much sunlight. Sounds like the kind of place that could house all kinds of potential dangers that could use the help of Torag.
Filios and Solomon travel for a couple of days in a northwesternly direction before Filios stumbles across the remains of a large campsite.
We are in luck Solomon! This HAS to be the recently abandonned campsite of some sort of large caravan. You can tell by the multiple wagon tracks and campfire locations. It looks like they headed in the direction of Kaer Maga along this road. I am sure that we can catch up to them within the day. I make it out to be another four days or so to our destination. Shall we catch up?
Just figured this would give us a chance to get Morthos involved because he indicated that he would be traveling with a trading caravan to Kaer Maga. GM: Does this work for you?

sunshadow21 |

We have a snowstorm and I'm home from work today. I'm lucky, I got a job where I'm allowed to stay home with the kids when they don't have school. So expect me to be checking in often all day. :)
Current Temp -6F with -27F Windchill
You just described half of the country today. I am looking forward to getting home and not having to go out again.

Works for me if it works for Morthos.

Solomon Wise-axe |

"Aye, that is does, and Torag's help they shall receive. How though, do you suppose the city sits 'high on a plateau', but 'doesn't receive much sunlight'? I don' think that is makin a whole lot o' sense.
Solomon runs ahead of Filios as far and as fast as his short little legs will carry him, "What're you waitin on, elf? if we're tryin to catch up, we need to get a'movin! As Filios catches up and easily passes him, he lets out a long bellowing laugh, "Just don' go leavin me behind. I can only run so fast!"
updated my info again. Realized I had some of my stats listed incorrectly. Also, added in the background info, which I tweaked to include meeting Filios, appearance, and personality.

Filios |

Filios slows his pace to allow Solomon a second to catch up. As they puff along, Filios talks to the dwarf between breaths.
The whole...sunlight thing...puzzles me...as well. Just a bad...rumor...I suspect. Also heard...about...several carvings...in cliff face...beneath city...ought to...peek your interest
The two make good time, and by the end of the third day, they can just make out the dust from the caravan ahead.

Filios |

very nice...love it
As the two companions slow their pace to a walk, they notice a buzz of activity around the caravan as they set up camp for the evening. Two well-armored humans break off from the group and approach Filios and Solomon warily.
Filios says to Solomon under his breadth, Do you want to handle this, or should I?
I expect that Morthos is traveling with the caravan.

Solomon Wise-axe |

"Why don' you go ahead. Im needin to get a drink first." Solomon says as he sets his pack down, digging through it. As the pair of humans approach, he glances up and nods, but goes back to digging until he locates his currently empty waterskin.
Placing his hand on the side of it, he closes his eyes and mumbles a short prayer. The skin bulges outward as if full. Solomon removes the cap and drinks heartily before offering some of it to Filios.

Filios |

Filios hails the two humans. Well met gentlemen. I am Filios Philandril, and this is Solomon Wise-axe. We were wondering if your destination is Kaer Maga? If so, we are also heading there as well. Would you mind if we tagged along? We will not cause any trouble, and we would certainly be interested in offering our not insignificant skills as guards.
Filios reaches down and accepts the offered water from Solomon. After taking a large swig, he says to Solomon, Nice trick my friend!
GM: Would you like to help us out with rping the guards and any others?

Darren Roy |

Darren looks up at the man sitting down with bulging eyes, clearly surprised at being addressed by name. He smiles as much as he can with a mouth full of food (keeping it politely closed), and holds a finger up while he quickly finishes chewing and swallows. "Sorry, sir. Heh, and here I thought this was 'the City of Strangers'!" He smiles a broad smile and offers a firm handshake. As he sits upright, his massive size is more apparent. He's looks as big as a bugbear. His face is clean-shaven, and his red hair is closely cropped. He's wearing scale mail that's seen better days and a shield on his back in similar condition.
"The food's good, sir. Um, did Lenore send you?" She didn't, if you were referred by the school.

Petvar Tarmikos |

Knowledge (local): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
"Lenore? I'm afraid not. Were you expecting her?"
Petvar accepts the handshake, noticing the strength behind it. Sitting back down Petvar reaches into a breast pocket and pulls out a note. He sets the note down on the table, opens it up and looks it over. Then, looking up at the now bigger young man, he calmly states, "Darren Roy, I have been sent to seek you out, among others. Your skills and background have set you apart from your peers and the "City of Strangers" has taken notice." Petvar notices a waitress heading towards the table. He folds up the note and places it back in his breast pocket. Petvar addresses the waitress before she even has a chance to speak. "I'll have a Storval Whip, without the rum. Thank you." Petvar waits for the waitress to get back inside. "We would like to offer you an opportunity to apply your skills where they are needed the most. And give you a chance to hone those skills for the betterment of the city and your own."

Darren Roy |

"Sorry, sir. You have the upper hand. I have relatively few contacts in this town - I was only trying to figure out who, ah, referred me to you. I am looking for work, though. Or opportunity."
I think Darren is done. If you can check him for anything I've overlooked, Sunshadow? Should we move this to an IC thread?

Petvar Tarmikos |

Seeing the waitress returning with his drink, Petvar waits patiently for her to set the drink down. He pays for his drink and Darren's meal and thanks the waitress politely. He takes a sip of his drink, allowing the waitress time to attend to another table a few feet away. Looking back at Darren, Petvar begins to explain.
"I am part of the city militia. We try to stay on top of things as best we can. We had been informed of your skills and desire to better yourself. Getting into the school is no easy task. But leaving the school may be to our mutual benefit. You gain a job, and we gain a strong soldier in our ranks. Beyond that I can not say anymore. Perhaps you would care to join us?"
Petvar downs the rest of his drink and tosses a silver coin into the glass. He gets up, looks back at Darren, "Well? If you are interested, perhaps you would like to join me as I head back to the main offices?"
If Darren joins me, I thought that would be a good point for us to end perhaps. Not sure where you want us to end up? Does Darren sign up for the city militia, or are we interrupted before we get that far? This is fun. I'm really liking the interaction thus far.

I will go ahead and start the game thread here for people to rp in; I was expecting another day or so for character selection and refinement, so I still have some maps and numbers to finish up before I can really jump into the adventure, so go ahead and rp for another day, and I will double time the preparation of the time consuming, but necessary, bookkeeping prep.
