Scenario: Will Wizardton casts Magic Missile with 5 missiles against Simon Sorcery, who has Mirror Image going. Each missile need to roll against the mirror images to see if they hit Simon or an image.
Now, if Simon also has Shield going, will shield protect against the missiles hitting HIM? Or all the missiles, including the ones that hits the spell effect, and not him, making the Images impervious as well?

I don't think the shield can protect an illusion so I'm going to go with, it only protects him.

My interpretation is that shield blocks all magic missiles before they can take out any images making this a worthwhile combo.
Edit: After reading through the spells in question it seems I am right:
Spells and effects that do not require an attack roll affect you normally and do not destroy any of your figments.

Oh so the OP is correct.
The magic missile affects the caster as normal because it doesn't require an attack roll so wouldn't destroy any.
If these were ranged touch attacks it would kill the mirror images but because magic missile is unique like that, the character gets hit and the shield absorbs all of it.

Yes, since the missiles don't require an attack roll they always target the caster thus the images are unaffected and the shield spell will negate the missiles as normal.

Holy poopsickle that spell has jumped in power since 3.5. Combine this with the new "miss original by 5 to take out an image" instead of the original "Image AC=10+dex mod" and you can trivially undo any threat a martial character pose.
Used to be taken out by magic missiles, and easily hit. You can easily get over 30 AC as a caster by mid-level if you care to focus a little on doing so, and easily push 40 with a monster race caster that also has good natural armor.
So it is essentially makes a fighter useless for 1d4+1/3lv rounds now, as only the first attack has a reliable chance to hit a buffed caster? (Disclaimer: Reliable = Not needing double digits on the d20)
Jeebus. Add any given miss chance spell and you are 98% immune to physical attacks. Glad I am taking Blind Fight next level with my paladin. The Pinata tactic still works at least.

Hehe. Illusion throwing you off? Close your eyes and swing blindly! Your chances to hit improve! :D

the number of rounds it takes to "whiff" through those images are relative to the number of incomming attacks.
fighter could have multiple attacks, two weapon fighting, could be more than one person attacking (if a pc party sees 3 or 4 ogre magi one might think we would attack the mirrors first while our brick moves in so by the time he got there there was none or one left)

Iterative attacks requires luck, as you will likely have less than 50% chance to hit a buffed caster unless your fighter is optimized. Haste works wonders, as it offers another attack on highest attack modifier.
The new blind fight feats will eventually whittle all miss chance down to 20% - Roll twice for my character. Heh, in retrospect it seems I should have named my character Zatoichi, and not Toshirou :P

and seeing as the point of attacking the Mage was to destroy all the images ASAP, Iterative attacks don't really bugger up that goal seeing as missing by 5+ also destroys an image.
though Eventually you'd run out of Images and now you're stuck with your -15 attacks (-17/-21 for dual weilding) trying to hit the caster.

Doesn't matter.
FighterDude grapples WizardDude and then RogueDude slices and dices in the first round of grappling. Second round FighterDude pins WizardDude and it's game over. (Ever try to get out of a grapple if you're a spellcaster? It ain't happenin' unless you already have Freedom of Movement up. Even Dimension Door requires a Concentration check against FighterDude's CMD.)
Give FighterDude both ImprovedGrapple and GreaterGrapple and the whole thing happens in the first round of grappling.
