I know that there are rules to limit the maximum enhancement bonus on a weapon/armor/shield (CL/3).
However, I don't remember seeing a limit on the skill bonuses (while we're at it, is there a limit to ability bonuses, too?)
Can someone point the bit of rule to me?As it is, the PRD don't give limits, so I can, obeying the rules, make a Spellcraft+5 item which would be raised to +50 step by step, followed by a Wisdom+20 thingy. The GM might not follow, though.
Additionally, are there rules to make skill bonuses with another type than "competence" (and ability bonuses beside "enhancement")?
Is there a maximum (and where is the rule saying so) to the following bonuses when crafting them into a new magic item?
1) skill bonus (competence) - like Acrobatics, Craft, etc.2) ability bonus (enhancement) - like Str, Dex, etc.
Do the following bonus types exist, and what is their cost?
3) skill bonus (other than competence)
4) ability bonus (other than enhancement)

Technically you can get bonusses to both skills and abilities from mosts types (not deflection and dodge). But morale, luck, insight, profane, holy and perhaps others I forget should apply.
There is precedence for profane ability bonusses from the sucubus' profane gift.I can't see why there should be a maximum to a competence or enhancement bonus to skills or abilities, but the price will quickly increase.
In case of other bonus types to skills or abilities, while the could be allowed, it shouldn't be an easy and cheap route to gaining insane bonuses to ability scores, so GM adjudication is definately advised.

Yar!
Circumstance bonuses (say, from masterwork tools) is a good one, and if granted from different souces, may even stack.
With the exception of dodge bonuses,
most circumstance bonuses, and racial bonuses, only the
better bonus of a given type works (see Combining Magical
Effects).
Aid Another with multile aiders is another potential big boost. (maximum number of helpers up to DM discretion).
And then there are various feats, traits, and racial variants that add trait bonuses, racial bonuses, and untyped bonuses.
It's possible that have a +34 to your craft skill at level 10 (+50 at level 20) using heroic NPC array, APG racial variants, core feats, masterwork tools, no magic, and one helper not using aid another. (I've actually stated up an entire crafter's guild (the 5 primary masters of), from level 1 to 20, all NPC classes & stats, core only, nothing custom)...
...
As for magic Items granting bonuses to skills, I'd use what already exists as the limit. There are rings of +skill, boots and cloaks of +skill, and armor enchantments of +skill. The maximum that is presented there is +15 to a single skill.
Just my thoughts.
