What makes a Superstar

RPG Superstar™ 2011 General Discussion

I thought it would be constructive to have a thread that focuses on what makes an item excel. Ideas and input on strong titles, good grammar, strong content, etc.

This might be best after the 32 are announced. We can have the items critiqued here about what made it good.

What makes a superstar? The sum of all of the positive qualities listed above (including several that were not named) personified by the entrant and condensed into awesome submissions.

Theres tons of advice on this topic floating around the boards, you just need to do some digging.
And I can assure you, you are going to hit a lot of gold.

Shadow Lodge Marathon Voter Season 6

What makes a Superstar?

I don't think that can be evaluated from the opening submission, regardless of the quality of the possible 300 words involved. If you are going to do this thing and be "Superstar" material, it really comes down to the professionalism shown as much as the creative punch of one's submissions. I think it's very easy to slip in any round, submitting something less than awesome sauce. It is how you professionally deal with that and the competition as a whole that I think can get you through it. Bouncing back and demonstrating development seem to be the cornerstones of previous Superstar winners.

So while getting into the top 32 would seem to be the biggest hurdle, I think it is what you show in the rest of the competition that determines your Superstar credentials.

True, but I am trying to get a round by round assessment and opinions. So basically what makes a good entry for round one. I should have narrowed the thread title to what makes a great wonderous item. Thanks for the feedback guys.

Liberty's Edge Dedicated Voter Season 6

What is superstar?

Well lets look at what one might consider a supertar in other venues.

Basketball...

Soccer (Football or Futbal)...

American Football...

MMA...

Sculptor...

Painter...

Novelist...

Politician...

Philanthropist...

Actor...

Singer...

Dancer...

Game Designer...

What do the all time greats of all of these things have in common?

The ability to inspire.

To me, that's what is superstar.
