Fighter Variant Class Features: Speed in Armor

Rules Questions

Now, something I'm looking at, the various Fighter Variants in the Advanced Player's Guide mention changing out the Armor Training ability for other, new abilities. I am assuming that this also means that a Fighter who takes a Variant 'Tree' (if you will) also gives up the ability to move at full speed in Medium and Heavy Armor, yes?

Has there been any official ruling on this? I can see how losing the ability to move at full speed in heavier armor can be balanced, but it also revives one of the primary gripes about the old 3.5 Fighter and erodes a lot of the joy in the new Pathfinder Fighter, who was no longer this slowly moving Tank lumbering around the battlefield.

If you give up armor training, you give up its ability. I'm not sure how to make it clearer.

Yeah, if you go one of the archetypes that care more about "ability x" than armor training, you get "ability x" but didn't train with armor so much and wear it as well as the average proficient shmuck. Thems the breaks.

The ability to move at full speed in medium or heavy armour is part of armour training and is lost if you take an archetype that gives up armour training.

Thought as much. Seemed more than a bit borked to be able to run around as 'normal' and STILL be able to pull off this amazing shiz-nitz. Thank you both very much for clearing this up before the inevitable "Raaaaaagh You Can't Do That!" moment.
