Rage Prophet does not grant ANY extra rounds of Rage?!

Rules Questions

We are getting ready to convert over some 3.5 toons to 3.75. My character will be 16 level with 4 ranks of Oracle, 2 Barb and 10 Rage Prophet. He'll get tons of bennies to use with Rage, but he'll only have 8 rounds per day even after maxing out RP? I know I can spend a feat for another 6, but that is barely even 2 combats, sometimes that is not even one single combat. If RP stacked, he would be having 28 rounds... Seems like a HUGE loss. I know RP gives a lot, but to be only able to use it for such a short time?

Am I just miss-reading the book or missing an errata? I hope so, otherwise RP is looking to not be worth taking.

After briefly scanning the PrC, it looks like you're supposed to use the level 6 class ability to burn spells for rounds of Rage.

Kind of an interesting idea. Mechanically, you burn Rage to boost your spellcasting, or you burn spellcasting to boost your Rage as the situation demands it.

I think most chars that go into rage prophet are primary barbarian secondly your rage rounds are 4 + con + 4. at level 16 your con before rage should be pretty big. wit +6 stat items and all.

I didn't do a thorough read-through, but I didn't actually notice any prerequisites that required Barbarian levels. Though the class feature that stacks the PrC with Barbarian levels certainly makes it an option.

one other thing to realize is a barb setup that gets level 10 barb is a pretty big deal.

like barb 10 oracle 1 rage prophet 9. this gets you the big rage powers. but I think 6 barb 4 oracle 10 rage prophet is what most do.

Dark Archive

Honestly I prefer Barbarian 9 Oracle 1 Rage Prophet 10

Well, one of the prerequisites is the moment of clarity rage power. AFAIK, only barbarians get rage powers...

Domain users can gain access to rage powers with the Rage subdomain of destruction- which if you go with the ruling of everyone getting access to subdomains if they have access to regular domains - means that cleric, druid, inquisitor, and maybe paladins can gain these. Granted, it's much higher level (10+) but still.

except none of those but cleric and inquisitor get access to destruction. don't think the domain meets the prereq for the Orc though.

Druids can gain destruction through some of the archetypes, namely Blight.

I didn't know that, thanks! :-) And now I want to play a half-orc raging cleric...

Yes, you would need to get at least 1 oracle level, something like cleric 12 oracle 1 rage prophet 7.
