Up until when exactly can one change this... and are the images limited to the ones listed or is there some other source?
Curious.
Your name gets locked in after the first 10 posts, I think? Not 100% certain, but it's something like that.
You can change your avatar as often as you like.
Additionally, you can also create aliases for yourself, with different names and avatars (useful for play by post games).

Benchak is correct. Your avatar name is locked after 10 posts (but you can create aliases with new names). Your avatar image is always available for change.
You can change these settings, or create new aliases, by clicking the "My Account" link at the top of the page and looking for the section labeled "My Messageboard Settings".

Thanks, folks.
It's not an issue, just looks like my Avatar Name is available for change, but maybe that's because it was never set. Still the default, my real name.
I'll work it out.
Images can change, was just worried about not liking what I picked after a bit... and they are limited to the presented list, correct?
I keep thinking I see avatars I did not see in the list, that's all... I guess for ease of "legality" all are Paizo images?
It's all cool, in any event.
Peace.

You are limited to the presented list, but it is a very large list (which may be why you've seen avatars that are not on the list.) Some Paizo staff members, and former contributors or staff members also have personal avatars.
We also occasionally add new avatars to the list.
It is partially for legal reasons (though some of the images are licensed from Wizards of the Coast or Rich Burlew), but also so that we can ensure that our messageboards have a consistent look, and don't have to deal with obscene, animated, garish, or otherwise problematic avatars.
