Silver Crusade

The description of the Zen Archer says:

Quote:

Ki Arrows (Su)

At 5th level, a zen archer may spend 1 point from his ki pool as a swift action to change the damage dice of arrows he shoots to that of his unarmed strikes. This lasts until the start of his next turn. For example, a Medium zen archer’s short bow normally deals 1d6 damage; using this ability, his arrows deal 1d8 damage until the start of his next turn.

This ability replaces purity of body.

(emphasis mine)

Does the change include the number of dice, or only the type of dice? That is, could I change a short bow's damage from 1d6 to 2d8 if that were the monk's unarmed strike damage?

Liberty's Edge

yes. You substitute the normal damage of the bow with the damage listed on the monk table for your level. So eventually, a 20 monk would be doing 2d10 with each arrow

If there is a difference between the two damage die (or dice) of your arrows as normal or your unarmed strike damage, whether by by size or amount of dice, you have the ability to choose between the two.

It probably a good choice to go for the unarmed damage die.
