Hey folks
I've just gotten my hands on Green Ronin's new DC Adventures game, and I was wondering if anyone would be interested in playing in a PbP using it?
I have very little to say besides that because I've only started reading it, and I would like to see how many are interested and what they would like to play. My first inclination is a teen hero game, that's pretty big in scope, but if everyone wants to play street level characters, that's not going to work as well, at least at first.
So I'd like to hear what people are interested if anything. Don't be shy! I'd be cool to run with as little as 2 players, heck maybe even just one.

I'm really surprised that no one's shown interest. Ok well I'm going to post up two ideas I had for a campaign, one is taken from the examples in the book.
Legacy of the Bat. Setting: Futuristic Gotham City. Power level: 8-10
For years, Batman has been missing or dead, his allies seemingly gone and his city spirals deeper in crime and corruption. All will be for nothing unless a new generation of heroes remembers the legacy of "The Bat" and takes up his crusade. Will these new heroes take on the mantles of legends like Nightwing, Robin, Batgirl, Oracle and Huntress? Will a new group of Outsiders form to safeguard Gotham? and will they learn what happened to their namesakes?
inspired by: Batman Beyond
The Big Leagues. Setting: Modern. Power level: 10-12
In the wake of crisis after crisis that has plagued the Earth, the league has chosen to expand. Forming a number of teams across the Globe, the Justice League has taken the next step to help safe guard the world, and you are one of these new teams.
Inspired by: Justice League, Unlimited, The Avengers Initiative.
A note on heroes: The game does provide stats to play as established heroes and I am going to allow playing any of them except "the Big three) (Bats [Unless its the first game, then I can consider. but it's still a tough sell.] , Supes and Wonder Woman) or you are more than welcome to make your own. Do either of these options interest anyone?

If anyone is familiar with the old Marvel FASERIP mechanics, DC Adventures or Mutants and Masterminds 3E has that sort of feel:
8 Attributes...Strength (damage bonus to melee), Stamina (toughness and fortitude defenses), Agility (initiative mod and Dodge defense), Dexterity (attack bonus for ranged attacks), Fighting (close combat attack bonus and Parry defense), Intellect (mods for several skills), Awareness (Will defense, some skills), Presence (Charisma).
Attributes are noted as what the modifier would be. For example, rather than say you have an 18 (+4 mod) in Strength, it would be noted as just 4. The attributes range in ratings from -5 up to 20.
No levels per se, so much as Rennick listed in the two setting suggestions, characters are rated as by Power Level, with the higher the Power Level, the more powerful the Hero. The Power Level is very important as that sets the maximum limit on Defenses, total skill ratings, attack bonuses, and so forth.
I believe they have a quick play adventure on their website, with the Superboy clone that came out of the whole Doomsday/Death of Superman scenario from back in the early 90s. A very nice intro to the updated Mutants and Mastermind system.

I only put off posting because I didn't know anything about DC Adventures but I'd be interested in trying it out . Legacy of the Bat sounds really interesting even though I only have a basic knowledge of the DC Universe (that is , I know who Nightwing and Huntress are but couldn't tell you much more, except for what filtered through from Batman : The Animated Series) .
If there is room it'd be great to try it . On the other hand if you have more players I'm already in several games and it would be fair to let someone else play instead.

I would be really up for a Mutants and Masterminds 2nd Ed game, but I don't have the DC adventures book either. (I am a DC comics fan, and collect Birds of Prey, Secret Six, Gotham City Sirens, and Wonder Woman.)
IIRC, the system is fairly similar, just some of the stat generation and the like are different that I have no idea how to create a character--and I wonder if that's why only a few folks have responded as well.
I note you say you've got the stats for pregen heroes, so maybe the solution would be to provide character templates so people don't have to worry about character generation?

I'm iffy about copying the pages from the book as it is still copyrighted materials.
I'll admit I started looking into other sites to run this game because up till now the interest seemed minimal. but if I do choose a different host I will pop the link up for anyone who is interested.
Quick count, who has access to M&M 2nd ed or to DC Adventures?

Probably best for me to bow out as I don't have access to either . This thread has intrigued me though , I'm seriously considering picking up DC Adventures now . Perhaps I could play if you run another DC PbP in the future ?
Best of luck with the game and thanks for the recommendation :)

Good to see some interest. I have to admit that unless there is a huge outcry for 2nd Ed. That I am goin to use DC adventures.
So let's get some brainstorming going.
We'll stat with the Teen Titan game. Let's say Robin Has a new team brought together because of some crisis. What would you want to see with this game? What kind of heroes would you want to be? On the topic mentioned above, I think a teen gorilla would be great.
Now the legacy game. I think that's a key word. How do you come to your namesake? I think a shared origin would work for that. Thoughts?

I haven't been able to get my hands on a copy of DC adventures yet, but the idea sounds neat, particularly the JLA unlimited concept.
The DCU is chock full of fun legacies to explore, and the most fun are the ones that only nod at their legacy in passing, like a character who is empowered by a chunk of Kryptonian technology she found, and so becomes a 'Superman legacy' despite not being even a little bit Kryptonian, and being more of a gadgeteer archetype, or an 'Aquaman legacy' who is an archaeologist who found some ancient Atlantean tablets of arcane lore, and learned to unlock his own mystical potential from them. He can barely swim, and thinks that fish is something one has with chips and a nice lemon-butter sauce, but he's an Aquaman legacy nonetheless, because he uses Atlantean sorcery.
Someone empowered by Artemis could seem like a Wonder Woman legacy, until she whips out her bow and looks like a Green Arrow legacy! Turns out she's that rarest of birds, a superhero archer *with super-powers.* (In her case, superhuman strength, speed, accuracy, toughness and senses, making her a suitable champion for the goddess of the hunt.)

I'd definately like to something extremely gritty, something that has Gotham as a sort of modern/futuristic Gangster type era, like what was found in Chicago during the days of Al Capone. Or something akin to Robocop, in that Law Enforcement is overwhelmed and just can't get a handle on things anymore...where people are only on the streets in broad daylight and even then they are extremely concerned.
I all for keeping the heroes in the grain of Batman and Birds of Prey, where there may have been some heroes with Superpowers, the highly skilled, equipment hero was more the norm.
Shared origin...hmmm...I like the sounds of that. Maybe the heroes had a catalyst event, where they are caught in a situation where something nasty is going down and they all, independendently decide that enough is enough and they act, working with each other seamlessly to thwart the nasty that's going on.
As for namesake? That's a tough one, I guess something that would depend on the origin of the group.
Incidentally, I have M&M 2E as well.

I'm a fan of superheroes though I've more experience with the Marvel Universe though am familiar with the big names of the DC World and seen some of the cartoons based on DC Universe.
I have access to the MM 2nd ed rules (and first ed rules).
It's been a few years since I made an M&M character and played this PbP.
You can mark me as interested.

I hope this idea can be revived. Another DC Adventures pbp I had joined has been put on indefinite hiatus. It's given me a taste for pbp games, so I'd like to keep going. If there's any chance this thing can get underway, I'd like to put my name in as someone interested.

I DM'd M&M 2nd edition for three years, and would love to play in the newly released 3rd edition (DC adventures). Legacy of the Bat would be an intriguing one to play in, and since it is lower-powered, a bit easier to play and run. I like the noir type setting it has as well.
I can have a character up and running pretty quick :p

Hey folks.
I'm afraid I won't be starting up this game here, the honest truth is that I was looking into doing it here and over on another site, and the interest I found there clicked more with the style of game I wanted to play. (At the time, at least)
I apologize to those who are interested, something may come up in the future, but right now I want to focus on keeping my other PbPs here up to speed and quality.
(that said, my forgotten realms game is looking for 2 players if anyone is interested. Please go post in the ad for it if you are!)

I'd join your game, but I'm in the process of starting to run my own. I've got a game proposal up over at the M&M Atomic think tank forums. It's called Second Soul, so if you still want to play in a pbp forum game Rennick, you're welcome to submit a character there.
