Magic items... what goes where?

Rules Questions

Sczarni

While planning the couple next treasures in my campaign a question came to my mind.

What if i want to introduce necklace of charisma instead of headband?
What if i want bracers of physical might instead of belts?

Is it a limitation set by the game devs on "what goes where" for game balance purpose or is it just an exemple of what can be done?

After looking through the corebook i have'nt found any answers but i'm pretty sure that someone as already answered my question somewhere.

I can't point you to a specific thread, but this change is for game balance. In 3.5, the items were in different locations which meant one PC could have bonuses to all six ability scores. In PF, the base design is that they can have one bonus to mental ability scores (head) and one to physical (belt).

If memory serves me correctly you can pretty much choose whatever you want to put wherever. I recall seeing a Collar of the Infernal from Masks of the Living God. I believe you can modify any of the regular items to perform a different function. Say you have a Cloak of Elvenkind and want a magical bonus to your Resistance. You cannot wear two cloaks and have both function so create a helm of resistance, or a belt of Resistance, or even pants of resistance.

Just my 2 cp.

Technically you can put everything where you want. Let it be, because nothing stacks in Pathfinder. Most bonusses are named. If the want it to stack, it cost's a lot of more money!
