Halfling Fighter build help please

Advice

i am writing up a halfling fighter and i need some advice on a feat selection. i have power attack, furious focus and toughness, i am 3rd level and i need one more feat.

my last feat i am not sure about, i want something to emphasis him as a hard hitter, "big single hits" i am going with the two handed weapon fighter build and i am using a great sword.

any help would be appreciated thanks

What materials are you allowed?

all pathfinder material, i could get away with some 3.5 stuff if i really want it but i would like to stick to pathfinder core if possible.

A big bruiser halfing? O.o Interesting choice! :D

That said, I'd recommend turning yourself into a crit monster, starting with Weapon Focus.

i was considering weapon focus i was just hoping there might be other big hitter feats i can pick up at this level

Well there are a few interesting crit feats in the genius guide to feats of critical combat. Something like butchers blow or bleeding strike might be right up your alley.

those all sound nice but can i get them at 3rd level.

Neither has a prereq, one of the products main goals was to give more variety to low level crits. You will get them more often at higher levels where you can have improved crit, or a keen weapon, but many of the feats in there (not all but many) can be taken at level 1.

even if it is written for pathfinder my DM wont allow it unless it was made by Paizo

Well that is unfortunate as there is some GREAT material out there from 3rd party publishers, especially super genius games. In fact they have blanket approval at my table, which paizo products do not. It seems odd that the dm would potentially allow 3.5 material but not 3rd party pathfinder material. After all wizards material would be 3rd party for pathfinder.

If it has to be paizo material, furious focus from the APG works pretty well. And a fighter can take it at 3rd level.

furious focus was one of the feats i have already picked

we used to play 3.5 so we are comfortable with it and seeing how pathfinder was based on 3.5 we are comfortable enough to look at it for options. we have never used 3rd party material, just a group choice.

What all do you want out of the halfling fighter, and why these choices already?

What is your party makeup looking like? Your point buy? What levels do you think the campaign will achieve and how quickly?

All these are all factors.

i want him to be a hard hitter, big single swings, more than likely the campaign will be dealing mostly with monster slaying.

power attack is my favorite feat plus it adds to damage and works for the feel, furious focus is a awesome feat to benefit power attack and toughness will give me a HP boost to help with fighting.

no point buy my ability scores are str16, dex17, con17, int13, wis14, cha12

the party so far is a gnome oracle, a halfling sorcerer and a mite cavalier

not sure how long the game will last but we will probably level every module

Diehard? Your party is kind of light on healing :)Oh, has a pre-req :P

Step up may be good, since it looks like you will be the only "in the fight" guy.

so is this a deliberately all small party?

ha, hadn't caught that :) Played a wizzie in an all halfling party once. That was a riot. Also played in an all kobold mini-campaign that was hella fun. No one takes me seriously, well, until I chop them off at the knees :)

You have to keep the big folk in line. Can't ever trust someone who is tall...especially if they are REALLY tall. How can they really think about the consequences of their actions with their brains so far from the ground?

Exactly!!!

(I'm 5'4" irl, it's the only way I can get through a day :))

hey just remember it doesn't matter how tall you are if you are the last one standing.

i love playing small warriors, i my self irl am 5 foot 5inches. and i consider that a bit taller than i would like lol.

i just love the combat heavy small guy wielding a weapon made for some one bigger, i wish monkey grip existed in pathfinder.

we didnt plan on it being a small party, the way my group works is we all figure out what we are playing before we tell each other, we dont worry about whos playing what just so long as everyone plays what they would like to play.

Liberty's Edge

Cleave is the only way to go for a Power Attack fighter.

Take a look at the Halfling alternate racial traits. Low Blow, Underfoot, and Craven are all good choices for melee.

If you want to get silly, try a Barbarian/Alchemist/Fighter (Two-Handed Fighter). Gulp down a mutagen, rage, Grab a Belt of Giant Strength +2 as soon as you can and you can be the halfling with 26 STR. MINIATURE HULK SMASH!

i was considering cleave as much as i was considering weapon focus but i was hoping to find a feat that just emphasizes his power attack and furious focus, think sort of a one hit kill style character.

Exotic Proficiency: Elven Curve Blade: 1d8/ 18–20/ ×2
(1 better Crit Range instead of Greatsword? for only 1 less avg. dmg. vs. 2 less for Falchion)

Weapon Focus and then Weapon Spec is what you really will want at some point, why not now?

hmmm not an easy task

I would take pushing assault, it ups the utility a little bit.

I would also look into the Two-Handed fighter archetype since they get overhand chop.

Best of luck and I like your idea of a halfling swordswinging bad ass

EDIT: Nevermind I see that pushing assault is only people of your size or smaller (I would have made it against a CMD but oh well)

Maybe shield of swings though since you will already have a decent AC being a halfling (small and dextrous) could make your hits decently hard while still being rather difficult to hit.
