PFS Faction T-Shirts

I apologize if this question has been answered lately elsewhere, but are there any plans on restocking the Faction shirts. I have an impression they're a sore topic at Paizo, what with their slow sales and all. But most of the larger sizes have sold out and you're down to (gasp) Larges only for Andoran. So will there be another production run ordered in the future or are we buying from what's in stock while they last? Thanks!!

Large size? For gamers? Is that the size for little gamer kids? As a company dedicated to gamers, Paizo should understand our need for anything that with a XXX ratting.

Doug, I'm tracking down the answer to this question. :)

We've had a few discussions about shirts and while we don't have an answer yet we're hoping to have one soon. It's not much I know, so sorry about that.

Hyrum.

I still think Faction dice would be easier and cheaper to produce... I would have one set for each Faction!

I imagine a XXX rated AP would be pretty different. :D

White Wolf did well with their Tzimisce clanbook and Baali clanbook. Those were definitely XXX rated. I think the best Golarion opportunities have passed by; Cheliax and the books of the damned.

Liberty's Edge

I'm glad that the Cheliax book wasn't XXX rated... I have seen a lot sold to younger players (teenagers) in our PFS groups.

My take is that it would be unwise to reprint the faction shirts as they are. It has taken two years to sell through what we have (and that's great: we covered costs and made a little profit), but it's safe to say that right now, we've already served most of the demand for these designs. Even with Pathfinder Society growing as it is, I'm confident that a reprint of similar size would take much longer than two years to sell through, as very few owners of the current design would potentially buy the reprint. And printing shirts that will mostly sit around in the warehouse for a few years is just not a great use of the Pathfinder Society budget.

If we decide to do more faction shirts, I'd much rather offer new designs so that owners of the current shirts will consider buying them as well.

Might I suggest some different color combination... some of the first run were fairly hideous. A more modern design incorporating the faction logo would be AWESOME! On a side note, any chance of some PFS logo shirts?

The Taldor faction t-shirt was a great example of horrible execution. Taldor is a yellow crown on a field of green and blue yet Paizo put the crown on a red shirt. Nobody wants to be a red shirt. Why not a blue or green shirt?

Same with Andoran. A yellow eagle on blue and black yet it's put on a gray shirt in blue. Was the printer having a super summer savings special sale? Was the basic gray jersey shirt on clearance?

Again, a 3rd party store with print on demand capability keeps your costs down (no using space for inventory, ordering sizes that don't sell well just to have some on hand, guessing at the numbers to make per faction, etc.) and provides a means by which the fans can purchase their shirts. Additionally, it can provide the consumer with options for how they want their shirt. For instance, they can pick their color, so everyone can have equally ugly shirts.

You're confusing the national heraldry with the symbols of the Society Factions. Those of Taldor and Andoran have much bigger differences than the colors, in fact the only faction that doesn't use a simplified version, and coincidentally(?) got an exact replica t-shirt, is Qadira. But then, how do you simplify two crossed scimitars?

I'm not saying the red and yellow shirts weren't horrible design choices, but that's really just my opinion.

As an aside, I have enough t-shirts to last my family for generations, but I would purchase a cloisonne pin or a necktie.

I don't know about simplified but my Taldan knight's heraldric device is a horse rampant trampling a broken gold scimitar. I would probably buy that on a shirt, too.

While I'm not ruling that possibility out, it's far from a perfect option.

First, POD vs bulk printing has the same benefits and drawbacks for shirts as it does for books—POD almost always delivers lower quality for the same price. So you either have to settle for lower quality, or charge more for the same quality.

Second, many of our customers—especially those overseas—value the ability to have things shipped with subscriptions and with other things they order, and if they have to order from a POD vendor instead of us, they have to pay a separate shipping fee. And that's enough to keep a lot of people from bothering. (And if we kept enough of each design and size on hand to let them do that, frankly, we might as well do the whole run and get the better quality/lower price.)

Thank you for the reply Vic! (& Hyrum & Liz)

So what I am reading is the shirts will be collector's items in a couple years. Great!! :)

I will circulate a rumor that when a new version of the Faction shirt is printed, anyone who owns an original version and wears it at the table can make the GM re-roll any d20 check once per scenario. That should spur some sales ;)

I already have one of each faction shirt.

Being a dice addict as I am, I would have to have a set of eath faction dice set if they were made available ;)

Like the t-shirt the dice could grant a re-roll - a re-roll in addition to a t-shirt re-roll.
