Round 2... the hard round?

RPG Superstar™ 2011 General Discussion

This round seems especially dificult for me for two reasons...

1) There are so many archetypes in place and old variants from 3.x that originality becomes difficult. I find myself saying... "Nope, too much like this... or that"

2) The lines between New Class, Archetype, and Prestige Class get a little close sometimes. It's going to be difficult to stand out as a "Superstar", when Archetypes are supposed to be just a little different...

I guess it is comforting that those who make it two the second round will all have this difficulty.

Actually I don't have trouble coming up with new archtypes, and the mechanics for archtypes are already in place, so fitting those ideas into the frame should not be that hard either.

What concerns me is originality. There are many obvious archetypes that the game needs but those are probably not very imaginative. On the other hand if one gets too imaginative I fear the archtype becomes too specialized to be real use to players.

But I am tossing some ideas around and am hopefull that they will work out fine if I get the chance to present them.

My advice is to study the APG closely.

Shadow Lodge Star Voter Season 6, Star Voter Season 7, Star Voter Season 8 aka ugly child

My only concern with round 2 would be if you chose to design an archetype for a APG base class. You have no previous archetype to guide your hand, in what to swap out. But I think neil pointed out in another thread "Sometimes great risk brings great reward".
