Incarnate Construct is an acquired template that can be applied to any humanoid-shaped construct, such as a golem:

- CR: Same as base creature divided by 2 (minimum 1)

- ALIGNMENT: Any; incarnate construct can be of any alignment, but shield guardians tend to be lawful.

- TYPE: The creature's type change to Humanoid. Large or larger incarnate constructs gain the Giant subtype. Recalculate HD, BAB and Saves according to the Humanoid type (d8, 3/4 HD, one good save (usually Fortitude), respectively)

- ARMOR CLASS: Natural Armor is reduced to 25% of the base creature's natural armor bonus, rounded down

- DEFENSES/QUALITIES: Gains/retains darkvision 60 ft and low-light vision; loses every special quality

- SPEED: If the base creature is Small or smaller, its speed becomes 20 feet; If the base creature is Medium, its speed becomes 30 feet; If the base creature is Large or larger, its speed becomes 40 feet; it loses every other movement forms.

- MELEE: Loses its natural attacks, but may attack with weapons or unarmed strikes

- SPECIAL ABILITIES: loses every special ability, but gain proficiency with simple weapons and light armors

- ABILITIES: Modify the base creature's scores as follow: Con 3d6 + 2 per 4 HD, Int 3d6, Wis 3d6, Cha 3d6. Str and Dex stay the same

- FEATS: An incarnate construct loses any bonus feat, but gains one feat plus one more feat for every 2 HD it has after the first

- SKILLS: An incarnate construct has skill points equal to 2 + Int modifier (minimum 1) per Hit Die. The following are class skills: Climb, Craft, Handle Animal, Heal, Profession, Ride, and Survival. An incarnate construct speaks one language plus one per Int modifier, taken from both the spell's caster and its maker.

Incarnate Construct can be applied using the Incarnate Construct spell.

INCARNATE CONSTRUCT
School: Transmutation
Level: Cleric 9, Sorcerer/Wizard 9
Casting Time: 8 hours
Components: V, S, M (the brain and the heart of a humanoid that has been dead less than 8 hours)
Range: Touch
Target: Humanoid-shaped construct touched
Duration: Instantaneous
Saving Throw: Will negates (harmless)
Spell Resistance: No (harmless)

You transform a humanoid-shape construct into a creature of flesh and blood and humanlike sentient. It gains the Incarnate Construct template. The incarnate construct is independent of both you and the being who originally made it, though it is initially friendly toward both you and its maker.

So, what do you think ?

I posted this 3 years ago... any opinion?

seems ok, I once played one of these with that one swashbuckler construct, the one with the foldout swords. it was pretty cool
