So I was looking into magical staffs, and wondering why there's no staff that functions like a ring of spell-storing. Here's the key differences I'd want:
Casting out of the staff is a spell-completion action (you must know the spell to use it).
The staff holds 10 charges, spells stored in it are cast out using various charges per a normal staff. Ex:
5th level (considering making this the max level to store): 3 charges
3rd: 2 charges
1st: 1 charge
When charging the staff the caster can also choose to cast new spells into it.
So, your standard 3 spell staff would cost 22kish. a 5th level ring of spell storing (less potential power but more versatility) would be 50k. Thoughts on where this staff should fall in that range? Caster level? Spells involved?

You want to make it into "programmable" staff with holding three spells of user's choice that can be changed when recharging staff? Extremaly powerful. In fact much more powerful than ring of spell storing (unless the ring of spell storing is used with a lots of 1st level utility spells but at the moment PCs would gain access to ring 1st level spells are not so powerful anymore).

This really works like a pearl of power. It gives extra slots for spells you already have.
So:
pearl of power: 2 different spells: 35k
Discount because you only have 5th level spells and not 6th
12,500/18000 (5th PoP/6th PoP) * 35k= 24.3
But you get 3.3 5th level spells not two from the pearl of power
3.3/2*24.3 = 40k
Arbitrary discount for less efficient recharge of 1/4th.
30k would be how I price it.
The ring of spellstoring is so expensive because it allows you to get spells that are not normally on your list (you can use your buddy's spell), because it lets you cast when you otherwise couldn't, and because it allows you to shift spells slots from day to day. This device does only the latter,so it is cheaper.

If you can use it to cast three fifth level spells before recharging, then it's about as good as three 5-level rings of spell storing. That's 150,000 gp. Since it's a spell-activation item rather than an item anyone can use, I might divide that in half, so 75,000 gp is a good starting point.
