I remember reading, a LONG time ago, a Dragon magazine article that described three NPCs, one of which was an high-level wizard (14-16th level) that was aging despite he drank elixirs of youth and potions of longevity. The wizard was old and was looking for a fountain of youth.
Anybody could suggest me the name or magazine issue?
Any idea as to edition this might have been in, it would help narrow it down for me.

Opps, pardon, not Dungeon, but DRAGON MAGAZINE!
IIRC he also wielded a staff that could give him storm giant strength for a limited number of rounds...
Ok think I may have found it for you :)
Shugar 14th level magic-user has a staff of might that can raise someones strentgh to 24. Hes married to an eleven princess, hes looking for a way to extend his life as potions of longevity dont work. Doesnt say anything about the fountain of youth though, so could be wrong guy.
Dragon 139 p18-19
Ooh, good call. I didn't like those "check out my cool DMPC!" articles much, so I kind of blocked them out of my mind.
I was going to suggest the old feeble wizard from the tournament module "Death of an Archmage". He was having problems with longevity, I believe.
Yeah I never did much with them, some just gave me intresting PC ideas. I knew keeping the old back issues would come in handy 1 day LOL (what do wives know? throw them out indeed)
Immortalis wrote: What do wives know? "Throw them out," indeed.... The proper response to that, if you have the balls, is, "Why? I've kept you." ;)

I have them on disc too but wont let on to her that will we LOL. I dont have the real early ones so had to resort to computer for this one. It is nice to have a hard copy to read and use when the need arises though. Plus they only take up one book case.
Yes, that's him, thank you!
The fountain of youth thing was probably a plot device my old master used to introduce the NPC then. I just remembered the aging thing.
Yes they might have not been amazing characters, but they've been developed quite well in our campaign and I have fond memories of them all.
The fun starts when two gamers get hitched.
I placed an ad in White Dwarf that went something like: Complete set of White Dwarf for sale due to marriage - not what you think, we BOTH had a complete set!
:)
I love it, reading this thread brought back memories of smashing hill giants back in 1981..go go Fonkin Hoddypeak, Frush o smuggle and my favorite, Glep Wurp the eye bender!
Ah you mean my old friends Gleep Wurp the Eyebiter and Frush'O Suggil.
Frush is a city guard in Istivin now, but I definitely lost contact with Gleep Wurp after we killed Lolth in her own plane.

And, for the record, I still have both husband and the copies of White Dwarf :)
