How far are we from Scarlet Hope? How far from a safe town?
Are there any people who can escort Rana somewhere? Any relatives who can take her in?
Can I make any knowledge checks for anything (the strange girl, the curse/problem/mystery)?

did you check the ICC yet? if you have, what say you to the introduction? (my still plondering on what tone i should go with this game...)
Hey, checking in. I suggest not advancing past this cabin house until everyone has checked in and posted. Just to be fair, but that is just me.
The intro looks good, though I wouldn't have minded doing the introduction stuff. Campaigns are supposed to start in taverns! ;)

yes you can start posting now, as to style i don't mind, you can switch if you need to but try to keep it coherent
your about a mile away from Scarlet Hope, the nearest town would be about 30 miles away
other than the party there isn't anyone to escort Rana, and all her relatives are from Scarlet Hope
sure you can make knowledge checks and they are as follows:
1) knowledge religion- little girl
2) knowledge local- stuff that's been going around
3) knowledge religion- tatoo of the man's back
4) knowledge history- for events of Scarlet Hope
5) knowledge arcane- for the curse
anyone who wishes to make a knowledge check just say which one it is for
and finally, yes i'll wait till everyone has posted before moving on from the cabin. until then plot away!
ps: yea well this is a horror "tavern"...

alright, so guys what do you think has happened? any theories/reconstructions of events that happened in Scarlet Hope so far? and any plans on how to deal with this?
ya i'll be asking these questions every now and then to know what you guys are plotting... it helps prepair for the unexpected

Well... based entirely on the information my character has gathered so far... I would have to guess that this town has the most horrible run of bad luck. The possibility of a summoning ritual adds a lot of complexity to the situation. Could this man have summoned the ghost? Or maybe the man summoned an outsider to spread this specific form of madness among the village, and the ghost is merely a by product of the situation? Also, considering the nature of the curse and murders, why was it done here? The remoteness is an obvious advantage but are there other reasons? And what does the mastermind behind this situation get out of it?
Honestly, just too many unanswered questions for my character to formulate any plans yet or try to guess at the course of events. Also, in the end, my character is also considering how this type of thing could be used by Chelax.
Hope that answers your question. :)

My guess so far is that the site had some innate potential for evil, perhaps terrible events in the past, and the scary visitor triggered/unleashed that potential.
Haunts are a sign of a deeply disturbed place.
Supernatural curses/infections need a source, could be something in the land, unless we're dealing with a terrible artefact or the man was cursed...
Scarlet Hope might be a revealing name. Perhaps some catastrophe in the past, or a massacre, maybe even a brave but futile last stand would get a place a name with scarlet/red/incarnadine etc. in the name.
Scarlet also goes with infection => Scarlet Fever but that may be stretching things.
Just hypothesising, really.

i'm supriced no one has done a knowledge history check on the town...
That was part of what I was getting at with asking what's known about the town in Piren's Bluff, but since I don't have knowledge (history) I didn't phrase it that way.
Which reminds me--what's your position on untrained Knowledge checks?

Hypotheses/WAGs (I wouldn't call them theories at this point...):
There probably is something historical behind this--the village's name is odd enough, and the apparent strength of the cult of Asmodeus in a village in Andoran (even this close to the border) is anomalous. So I suspect that the village has gained something over the years from that deity. Mace Guy possibly works for a probably CE outsider opposed to Asmodeus, and has laid a curse on the town. It's strong enough to have killed the priestess of Asmodeus. However, I guess based on virtually no evidence whatsoever that her deity has given her the power to return as a ghost (the little girl). As a vengeful ghost, though, she'll kill anyone tainted by the curse instead of trying to repair them. So we'll have to lift the curse while protecting the people affected by it from the ghost.
Here endeth the WAG.

Question ulgulanoth, while I did not originally intend for this when I built Miriel. I have noticed that my scoprion companion has Tremor Sense and Darkvision out to 60 feet. He also has a +9 Perception check, so, how would you want to handle that with my character? Scorpions being nocturnal creatures he will probably be up while I am sleeping.
Basically, I am asking if Triskal would be allowed to perform like a miniature guard dog and perhaps wake me up through the Empathic link we share if we were ambushed? If you do not want to allow that I perfectly understand, the though just occurred to me and I wanted your opinion on it.

Sorry ulgulanoth, I'm finding due to erratic times I have managed to get on line this week I'm not really keeping up with the game. It's going a bit quickly for me, so I think I'll humbly bow out now before we get to a point where I end up holding things up. Don't think I'm leaving any gaps in the party as I was acting as back-up to several PCs so hope it doesn't upset the party balance.
Thanks for letting me in. Game actually looks great so I'm sure the others will really enjoy it. Have fun all.

I am sorry to see you bow out Earnest, I really liked the concept of your character and backup characters are always fun to role play with. While it isn't for me to say, I personally wouldn't mind if you were kept in reserve to possibly join back up later. In any event, I hope you find something that fits better with your schedule in the future.
