Questions about Charge and Ride-By attack

Rules Questions

Contributor

I'm playing a Cavalier that is designed for Charging. Lately, though, we've had a bit of confusion with the rules for Charging and Ride-by Attack.

Now in a scenario where there is an enemy lined directly in front of me, I charge forward and do the attack. After that, Ride-by Attack says I can continue moving. The question is, can I move through my opponent? Would I have to do an overrun attempt to do so? If so, it seems that the setup to be able to do a Ride-by Attack is very rare.

Basically, can I get some clarification on the Charge rules and when Ride-by Attack would come into play?

Read this thread .

Particuarly SKR's posts including this diagram:

Y = Y
E = enemy
| = path of your charge

Tanis' link appears to be bad. Try: HERE

However, don't stop at the diagram Tanis has called out, because it later is shown in the same thread that SRK's diagram applies in 3.0, but not in 3.5 nor in PF.

well, this was the one diagram that was arguably legal under 3.5 The others were not.
