Harold Wainright |
His nose wrinkling in disgust at the state of the corpse, Harold nonetheless deftly removes the collar, and cleans it as best he can before stowing it in his pack.
Presumably, that will be worth something...
"Right then. Shall we move on...?"
With that, Harold moves to enter the Western chamber (through the South-Western door).
Korganna Skullcracker |
"Well now I'm sorry we killed the spider, if it was helping to keep down the rabid dog population." Murro says. "I guess we might as well get on with it. Lead on, muscles."
"Dat dog not rabid, Korganna think that one was pet...Pet named Kita, like Kitteh...Oh well, time to BURN!"
She lights up the spider web with a gleam in her eye.
"Burn with me.
Harold Wainright |
Harold gives Korganna a quick smile.
"By all means. Let's finish clearing-out this tower first, though..."
Right then. I guess we need to go back outside, and round to the other door (Leading into the 'Southern' chamber of this level of the tower...
Harold moves back outside.
"I will just check whether I can get in from the other side before trying to climb to the next level."
Harold Wainright |
Well then...
Sheathing his sword, Harold will gamely try to scale the crumbling wall of the tower as far as the next level...
Climb: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20.
...Assuming he reaches it, and he is not in any immediate danger, he will pull out some rope, and fasten it to the wall, allowing the rest of the party an easy ascent (DC 5 Climb check).
Murro Garrickson |
I had been waiting to see if something was going to try and eat Korganna. But since all is clear...
Murro waits for a couple of people to make their way up the rope before stepping forward, eying the rope with a sour expression. "One would have hoped that these ruins weren't so ruinous."
He gripped the rope firmly with each hand and pulled hard.
Climb: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2
Murro succeeds in lifting himself about 6 inches from the ground before his face grows red from the strain and drops back down again with a gasp.
Looking angrily at the others around him, he says, "A little help!"
He mutters something unrepeatable under his breath and waits for a boost.
Murro Garrickson |
You can take 10 on the check as you are not rushed or anything :)
Yeah, but that's not so funny! :) Anyway, if no one gives Murro a boost, he'll do so.
Once he reaches the upper level, Murro turns on Korganna. "Next time, you'll have to carry me with you. You don't, perchance, happen to have a saddle, do you?"
Harold Wainright |
"Let's head South first."
Looking at the closed doors, Harold taps his cheek thoughtfully.
"I don't suppose that we have anyone here who is skilled at finding traps and opening doors...?"
He glances hurriedly at Korganna...
"With finesse, that is, not brute force..."
Gandel |
Sorry for the prolonged absence - been totally slammed with work.
"Here now. Let ol' Gandel take a peek at them doors before puttin' Korganna in any danger of takin' a trap to the face," Gandel says, stepping forward to examine the closed doors.
Gandel checks each door for traps:
Perception (South door): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
Perception (North door): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
Harold Wainright |
Survival: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16.
Harold raises an eyebrow as he surveys the room...
Interesting...
"Gandel, perhaps you could take your time searching this room? I can see footprints in the dust that go from the other door to the centre of the room, and then stop... That strikes me as a trifle suspicious, to say the least..."
Cairnlands Lorekeeper |
Since Korganna is the only one with darkvision, you may think about a light source. Otherwise everyone will have concealment against the people without darkvision.
Nothing reveals itself as magical.
As you look to where the tracks end, you see a rigged up javelin trap aiming at the door across the room.
Harold Wainright |
"No thanks Murro, I have it covered."
At that, Harold reaches into a belt pouch, and pulls out a small gem, which, when thrown into the air, begins a slow orbit around his head.
An Ioun Torch.
Glancing at the Javelin trap, Harold wryly comments:
"We should probably disable that..."
Harold Wainright |
*Shrug* Well, we thought the tracks were suspicious, so we would have searched the room *anyway*. The real question is, did Gandel successfully disable the trap?
"Hmmm... Clearly someone has been here relatively recently, and does not want visitors..."
If there is nothing else in the room...
"Gandel, my good fellow, would you care to take a look at that door over there?"
To see if the other door is trapped/locked.
Harold Wainright |
"Don't worry Korganna, I am sure that whomever made that trap is around here somewhere. Since Gandel did not find any further traps, would you care to do the honors, and open the other door in this room?"
Gandel |
Assuming Gandel doesn't skewer himself disarming the javelin trap...
"Gandel, my good fellow, would you care to take a look at that door over there?"
"At once, m'lord!" Gandel replies in a mock-serious tone, bowing deeply toward the fighter. The halfling rogue bounces over to the door and inspects it carefully.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
Door? What door?
Cairnlands Lorekeeper |
Here is the layout of the floor. You will be going though the northwest door in the room with the trap.
Harold Wainright |
Heh. Gandel, that door; you know, the one you just walked into :-P
Nodding to Gandel, Harold waits patiently, sword in hand, for the party's eager 'door-buster' to open the door...
