Bloodline Levels...

Rules Questions

I guess I'm just missing something here but my question what are the bloodline levels based of off? Character Level, Sorcerer Level, Caster Level?
I'm making a Spellsword for a campaign and I'm wondering.

Greeting, fellow traveller.

Since the bloodline represents the source of a sorcerer's magic it is based on sorcerer class levels.

From the PFSRD:
"Each sorcerer has a source of magic somewhere in her heritage that grants her spells, bonus feats, an additional class skill, and other special abilities. This source can represent a blood relation or an extreme event involving a creature somewhere in the family's past."

Ruyan.

So me taking only taking the 4 required levels in Sorcerer, will mean almost nothing.. oh well what can you do.

But the only reason I say it might be caster level, is because the better you got to magic the closer you would get to your heritage..

Hehe, sure - I was just stating RAW. The sentence following what I quoted makes it actually clearer:

From the PFSRD:
"Regardless of the source, this influence manifests in a number of ways as the sorcerer gains levels."

Emphasis mine.
So, I think it's time to talk to your DM *grins*

Nah, it's only class levels, not other levels, unless those levels specifically say that they count (like a dragon disciple).

The reason behind this is that if you want to get something else, you have to give up something for it. So if you want to become a sorcerer/loremaster, you'll get loremaster abilities, and more spellcasting, but you will not get sorcerer abilities, since they require sorcerer levels.

This is fully intentional and is supposed to encourage people to take more than a few token levels of classes like wizard and sorcerer, who used to have nothing to keep one in the class. There was almost no mechanical benefit of taking more levels in some classes than it was necessary to qualify for some PrC or other, so very few characters stuck with their starting classes.

Yea seams like GM is up for making it caster level *grins back*
