I signed up for the subscription service for the Adventure Paths, Setting and Companion. This sounded reasonable at the time, but I was just informed through my subscription page that I'm going to be shelling out $71 in Feb. for 5 books. From today, my average over the next 4 months is $44.88 with Dec. being a very light month at $9.34.
It's not that I can't afford this, but it's hard to budget for these big swings between "cheap dinner" and "new cell phone plan," so I'd like to know: what's the expectation? I know the APs are expected to be 1/mo. What about the other subscriptions? Should I expect there to be about 1/mo. as well? Is Feb. just a crazy month with two APs landing and two Setting books? If so, how many crazy months are typical per year?
PS: One small improvement to the site which would really make it more usable is if the books listed under subscriptions were links to the pages for those books. When something new shows up, there, my first impulse is to check out the description page... but I have to search for it to do that.

The APs are monthly, while the Player Companion and Campaign Setting subscriptions are bimonthly. Sometimes the schedule slips and we end up doubling up on APs in a single month (though "crazy months" tend to be at the beginning of the year and just before GenCon - we're working on getting back to a regular schedule!).
I've passed on your suggestion to Ross - it's an excellent suggestion.

I'll go through my past orders now and see what they end up averaging out to..
I also subscribe to Pathfinder fiction, pathfinder RPG and pathfinder modules, which scews my answers a bit, but looking at my subscriptions for the past 2 years, they average out for 51.08 plus shipping. Taking out the items that you would not be getting due to not having RPG/module/tales subscriptions, and the average for the past 24 subscription shipments drops to about $37.98 + shipping per month
Note: Feb is a big month because there is a Hardcover coming out that month I believe...

Historically it seems there are generally 2-3 crazy months, Gencon is almost always nuts with a major hardback release, usually 2 APs (the finale and the new one), and several smaller products. If you subscribed to the APs, Campaign Setting, and the Core Rules this years Gencon shipment was over $120. The APs aren't supposed to get bunched but they do. This year it was worse because the fifth book in Kingmaker didn't come out until 2 weeks before Gencon.
Stuff seems to get bunched around the AP starts, so Feb and August are almost always a bit nuts.
Edit: Also, as the above poster pointed out hardcovers make major price blips and are always going to be expensive months since you have a $30-40 item bumping things.
