A few questions relating to something that came up in my game today.
Situation 1:
I cast Suffocation on a Human with full hitpoints. Human fails his save and begins to suffocate. On his turn, he drops to 0 and is unconscious. If the Human passes his next two saves, is he still on 0 or restored to full hitpoints?
Basically: is Suffocation's "drop all health" aspect Lethal or Non-Lethal.
Situation 2:
I cast Suffocation on a Human with full hitpoints. Human fails his save and begins to suffocate. On his turn, he drops to 0 and is unconscious.
The human fails his second save and on his next turn, he is reduced to -1 hitpoints and is dying. If he passes his third spell, is he restored to 0, or full hitpoints, or does he remain on -1.

1) Said human as been reduced to 0 hitpoints and stays that way. If suffocation was not lethal, it would say so.
2)If the third save is made, the human is still dying. As they are "dying" (it is a status, go look at PFRPG core book pages 566-567) they need to make a Con check to stabalize. If they make the check they are stable and at -1 hitpoint. If they fail this check they take another point of damage, -2 hitpoints, and continue to be "dying" until the next round where this process is repeated unless something is done by someone else.
As a funny aside, if you are at -9 hitpoints (assuming -10 is dead) and this spell were cast on you - by the rules, failing the save would return you to 0 hit points, allowing you to live for three more rounds until the spell killed you.
Basically suffocation is nasty stuff.

Wow. So if it works, it just plain drops the target to 0 to start with.
That's very powerful.
If it works yes, it is like every other SoD (Save or Die) spell. Fort saves tend to be high on most monsters and you have to contend with SR so you just have to pick your targets wisely if you are going to attempt to use it.
