Fast Bombs and extra attacks

Rules Questions

Is there an official ruling on whether fast bombs work with abilities that add extra attacks? This is kind of a big deal, and I haven't seen any official ruling so far, and that means it's up to a DM. And there really is a big differernce between getting three attacks and eight attacks (haste, rapid shot and greater two weapon fighting). I mean it's a difference of 30d6+(intx3) and 80d6-(intx8) at level twenty.

I believe this was mentioned in the FAQ. Answer: Yes, they are treated as ranged weapons for all purposes meaning you can apply those feats.

Only thing you can't use is many shot, because it specifically calls out bows.

That's an average of 360 damage if you have 30 intelligence. Yeesh!

How does one make so many bombs and throw them so quickly? I imagine an alchemist who has already made his bombs at the start of the day and walks around with them loaded into a giant mechanical backpack with a tube hanging voer his shoulder. He pushes a button and *boom boom boom* go his bombs, much like a pitching machine at the batting cages. :D

This is really good news for my alchemist player. The alchemist is his favorite class ever, and it just got better for him.

My player would love that. However, we've flavored his handy haversack as a messenger bag. He leaves the flap open when in battle.

And just when we thought we escaped the nova'ing issue of 3.5 it comes back in even fiercer form.

It's not a big deal. He'll probably run out of enemies quicker than he runs out of bombs.

One cool thing, now that I think of it, is that this prove many people wrong, at least in my eyes. Several people claimed thay couldn't find a use for an alchemist. I'd say a character who can deal an average of 35o points of damage three of so times per day and still has all his spells, and can still use his mutagen certainly has uses.

Those people who claim to say that they cant find a use for an alchemist are the same idiots who think a bard is not a worthwhile member of a 4 member party. I've been playing bards for 8 years now and I couldn't begin to tell you how many times that +1 to hit, saves, and damage rescued the party. Not to mention the array of amazing "finale" type spells they now have access to with the APG.

Bard is my favorite class.

That is all.

Same here.

Mine has been a toss up between bard and rogue, however I'm having a "blast" playing my Dr. Strangelob Alchemist. :)

I'm not sure who says that... Alchemists can crank a lot of damage out in a hurry, they can 'switch hit' fairly well too, doing both melee and ranged damage.

I've seen it mentioned several times on the boards- usually pairing it with the cavelier. This is a shame as I'm a big fan of both classes. Personally I think people could pair up this class with the rogue rather than the bard. It's a skill monkey that can make a good glass canon, rather than a team buffer.

It can buff fairly well though, so yeah, it's a good class.

Ok really stupid question probably....most likely already answered, do the multiple attack penalties apply to multiple bombs granted by fast bombs discovery?

Yes. They are treated just like ranged weapons.
