Can Mounted Combat be used against Spells?

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

I was working on a summoner build and suddenly it hit me. Because they use Ranged and Melee touch ATTACKS, can some spells be negated using mounted combat and trick riding?

They sure can. Anything that requires an attack roll is an attack and qualifies.

True, but it is important to remember that spells that DO NOT require an attack roll, such as an area-effect spell, would be unaffected by mounted combat or trick riding.

Oh yeah, definitely. I was just considering how my build relies on them both(Summoner/Eidolon) being able to keep fighting in the negatives and how much a disintegrate would suck. Now, if I saved my trick riding for any of those, being in the negatives won't be so scary, heh.
