What part of Golarion has the most steampunk-like feel?

By which I mean: airships, magitech, pulp adventure, etc.

I've always been a big fan of Eberron and the feel of the world, but with switching to Pathfinder I'd like to use it's core setting. Plus this way I don't have to worry about converting warforgeds or psionics or any of that crap that I really don't care a whole lot about.

Also is there any nations that would lend themselves to similar feeling games as the Dragonmarked Houses did? Political intrigue and waring noble houses kind of stuff.

As far as I can tell.. none. Golarion is definitely not Eberron in any way shape or form.

Lots of intrigue in Absalom though. Take a read on the Pathfinder Socity Cammpaign Guidelines... they're a free download.

I think James Jacob's has mentioned elsewhere that Eberon and Golarion are two very different entities. Numeria perhaps, but that might be too technical.

You've pretty much defined Taldor right there.

Nex is probably the place to go for Magitech (mage-punk?). For steampunk style devices, I think that would be the Mana Wastes, which is next door to Nex. For high-tech, as was already mentioned, you want Numeria.

Ah, thanks guys.

Check out Alkenstar. Might be what you're looking for. Its not Eberron, but it has some resemblances in the ideas. Numeria is a lot of fun though.

Personally, I kind of feel sad in that Paizo has seemed to back off from the really crazy stuff. I'd love to see a module or a book for Alkenstar or the Technic League in Numeria. Or that island controlled by the eugenic minded gold dragon. I know its not everyone's cup of tea but a couple of off beat stand alones would be fun.

Maybe you could stick the "wild" ideas on one of the other planets in the system. Not actually on Golarion itself, I know. But the write ups of them have been left intentionally vague.

I am definitely a sucker for alternative campaign ideas. Perhaps outerspace has been colonized by various classic weird races, but there is a conspiracy on Golarion keeping them a secret? It could be the source of the crash in Numeria. As the players unravel the conspiracy, they end up in space following a campaign of galactic proportions? Perhaps there is another runelord who escaped the earthfall and has left golarion for "greener pastures" on other planets.

I kinda hope now that Paizo does a book on "really out there" campaign ideas, that would dramatically change Golarion. Things like "what if Rovagug escapes the world wound" kinda stuff.

He's in a big pit in Casmaron, actually.

Agreed, the one promoting the World Wound is Lamashtu

Actually, it's

Spoiler:
the demon lord Deskari
who's involved with the Worldwound.

We'll never do this. And by "never" I mean "probably never, and certainly not in the next several years." Golarion's taken us too much time and effort and work to do anything crazy to it. And with the definitive "This is the Inner Sea" book not even out yet... it's far too soon to blow things up. I like it too much as it is.

Bah, the dude in the spoiler is just the crotch-critter of Lamashtu's World Womb. :)

My first thought is: Wherever you decided to add Zobeck to Golarion.

Good suggestion!

Well I wasn't actually thinking of something "in the continuity" but rather, a book that handles "what if" scenarios. I certainly understand that you wouldn't want to do this kind of thing at all in the relative near future (or middle future), but wouldn't it be kind of neat to have really crazy "time of troubles"/"the world will never be the same" alternative campaign ideas?

I think Anburaid meant more a "This book is not Cannon, these are some really cool things you can do in your campaign to break the world, that we won't ever do" type book, rather than, "right, now we have a world, lets break it so everyone needs a new ruleset, and magic works differently, and half the Gods are dead so it's a compleatly new game, buy it even though youbought the old one!" book, which I know you hate.

Which would be pretty funky...
