[Acacia Games]Any 3PPs need cartography services?

Product Discussion

Hi all,
If you've seen any of my posts you probably know that I'm working on a couple of products for the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game. Unfortunately Acacia Games is currently a one-man show (me) and I don't do art...which leaves me looking for budget to hire freelancers.

I do make a pretty good map, however, so I've put together a small portfolio [link] and figured I'd share it here. If any of you fine folks are looking for cartography help on any of your projects and like what you see please get in touch. There's a contact link on the portfolio page but you can also reach me directly by e-mail at michael at acaciagames dot com.

Money's great but, frankly, I'd also be interested in swapping services with another small 3PP...trading maps for character portraits and other illustrations, for instance.

Appreciate your time. Feel free to get in touch to discuss, heap praise, toss insults, or whatever. Thanks!
M

[edit]Ahem. Yeah, not just for 3PPs I guess. Paizo, if you want a map from me just ask. I'd be honored! :)

The Exchange RPG Superstar 2009 Top 8

Those are some very pretty maps. If I was a 3PP, I'd be looking for ways to make this work.

Scarab Sages

I agree. Those are very good.

Scarab Sages Silver Crescent Publishing

The maps look good. I happen to be in need of several small maps for adventure encounters. I would love to trade services, but unfortunately I don't have much talent in the area of artwork. Writing is more my forte. Shoot me an email and we can discuss this further.

Thanks, guys! Much appreciated.

@Daniel Marshall: Took a quick look at your site and will send an e-mail in a bit. Thanks.

Hi all,
Posted a new map on my portfolio. If you've already seen the portfolio you can just skip right to the map (link) - it's a pretty big file, though, so bear with it.

This is a map of a small village done for the Cartographers' Guild Cooperative Worldbuilding Project at the request of a DM who is running an campaign in that world. Here's the detail on the village:

CWBP Wiki wrote:

Hania is a small village located on the Crescent River at the western edge of the Liaglades in the Witchlight Strand. The village is largely self-sufficient, with talented farmers and craftsmen. As such, there is no official ruler, though the villagers look to the guidance of Deeson Voss, a retired soldier and strategist.

As the boundaries of the Savage War expanded during the last instance of the Witchlight phenomena, Hania was sacked by a raiding band of orcs. Nearly the entire village was slaughtered, but those who survived, under the guidance of Deeson Voss, somehow managed to defeat the remaining orcs and bring peace back to Hania. They are currently in the process of rebuilding.

Some of this hasn't yet come to pass. The group's PCs are holed up in the local tavern with Deeson Voss, planning the town's last ditch defense against the invading orcs. Hopefully this map will help them come up with a workable strategy! :)

Unlike most of the content on my site, this is released under the Creative Commons BY-NC-SA 3.0 license so share and remix as desired.

Hope you like it.

New battlemap, done for Daniel Marshall of Silver Crescent Publishing: portfolio, or just the map.

In other news, we just completed the second session of our internal playtest of Curse of the Emperor's Stone.

I hope to have some preview art from the adventure to show soon...two excellent artists are hard at work and I think you'll like what they're putting together. Will post that in another thread when it's ready to be shown. I'm salivating over the concept art (by James Sinclair, Dark Horse/DC/etc.) for the adventure's climactic battle scene. It's kinda epic...

New map, done for Louis Porter, Jr. Design's NeoExodus: A House Divided campaign setting. Portfolio or just the map.

On CotES: We're just about finished with the playtest. Had some hard tweaking to do on a couple of the encounters and on the rickshaw chase(!). We're going to play through a couple of these again to make sure the changes I've made fix all of the issues that were raised. AND, really, I promise preview art very soon. :)

And I am very happy with the work he did for us and will be hiring him in the future for more projects.

Thanks, LMPjr007. Much appreciated. I enjoyed working on the project!

Hi guys,
Been a while since I posted here but I've been working away on a number of commissions. I've recently uploaded a couple of recently finished maps created for BlackStar Studios' Shadowlands campaign setting (Facebook: BlackStar Studios and Twitter: @BlackStarGames). You can view them directly here and here...or visit my portfolio here. Hope you like them!
M

NB there are also some new previews and such on the main Acacia Games site I may or may not have remembered to post those here...

Here's a new one, also for BlackStar. It's a detailed interior map of a mob boss' house in the Shadowlands setting city of Tarina. You can view it directly here or visit my portfolio here. This bugger was a lot of work but I think it was worth it.

How long did this take you by chance?

Ehhhh...quite a while but I didn't keep track. I'm going to guess something like 15-20 hours? Maybe less. Sure seemed like more.

I might have an opportunity for you, we'll have too see how good our own work turns out

Cool! Feel free to get in touch with me at your convenience (contact info is on the site and maybe on my profile here).

I tried to follow the links you've posted to your website with no success, it seems to be broken. It might just be me, but I thought you would want to know in case it's a real issue with your site that might be hindering people from contacting you.

Thanks. Bloody hosting service. They have weird, intermittant problems...I submit reports and they always say "Oh, it's working fine". I think they fix something quietly and pretend nothing was broken. :)

I have to say that the work provided for me has been exceptional. And I will likely be sending more work his way for future adventures.
