OK, so you can use a large bastard sword with a -2 penalty. Since you have the option of using a lance one-handed while mounted, does that mean you can use a large lance with both hands while mounted at the -2 penalty?
I don't really see any difference between lance bastard sword in this regard, so...thoughts?

Only if you have the exotic weapon proficiency. If you have the exotic weapon proficiency it moves the weapon from two handed to one handed. if you don't increasing the size again would move the weapon beyond two handed and according to the rules..
If a weapon's designation would be changed to something other than light, one-handed, or two-handed by this alteration, the creature can't wield the weapon at all.

Someone could REALLY try to rules lawyer that weilding it one handed wasn't the same as using it as a one handed weapon, but the rules do seem to say that you could in fact use a larger lance, but you would have to do it two handed. No shield for you.

A Bastard sword is not a two-handed weapon. It is a one-handed exotic weapon. "A character can use a bastard sword two-handed as a martial weapon." Is this the same thing as being a two-handed weapon?
If not then the special ability doesn't size. A medium creature would treat a small bastard sword as a light exotic weapon, but "[it] can use [it] two-handed as a martial weapon." Likewise it would treat a large bastard sword as a Two-Handed Exotic Weapon, but "[it] can use [it] two-handed as a martial weapon."
I'm inclined to think this is not the case, the special ability does, in fact, size.
A Lance is a two-handed martial weapon. "While mounted, you can wield a lance with one hand." This phrasing is actually quite different, however I don't think it's different enough to warrant a different interpretation.

Yes. More people DON"T have exotic weapon proficiency: bastard sword than do have it. So for those people without a feat it is in fact a two handed martial weapon (the distinction between "it is one" and "it being used as one" is irrelevant for the individual involved)
Making something bigger would make the sword bigger than two handed for those without the feat, which means those without the feat can't wield large bastard swords at all.
It is " too large to use in one hand without special training" There is no option to wield it one handed even with a penalty if you don't have the feat
