Agent,

I'm trying to enter Hippogryph into Hero Lab as an animal companion. I based it on a horse, which comes with all armor proficiencies. Should that he the case for Hippogryphs as well or should they need to be trained in that?

And should it know any tricks to start with? or just the one it comes with at L1?

I will be spending time teaching her other tricks as time permits too.

Aditi will only possess one initial trick, her bonus trick, representing something you have taught her prior to the start of the campaign, but even if you don't/can't find the time to train her, the Sable Company handlers will help ensure she is fully combat ready in short order. That said, there should be sufficient downtime to handle at least some of her training on your own.

Once she has learned all six tricks that comprise Combat Training, she will be considered proficient in the use of all armor types. Until then, if in barding she suffers regular penalties for wearing armor she is not proficient with.

Sounds good. Initial trick will be Come.

Sorry I wasn't around yesterday. Day from hell. I will attempt to post again after work but then may not be available until Sunday.

Grand Lodge

Also going to be out of contact until Sunday. Sorry for any inconvenience!

I will be out of town Wed, Nov 24-Sat Nov 27. I will have online access but I can't commit to daily posts over the Holiday. I will attempt to log in a couple times. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Absences over the holiday weekend are understandable, and I've got plans as well.

We'll resume regular nightly updates next Monday, if not before. I should be able to check in at least once a day; post as you are able this week, and I'll respond in turn.

Question: I just recently got my copy of the APG and have been playing around with it. Would it be possible for me to make Grent a Shielded Fighter build? None of their features kick in until level 3, so it would change exactly nothing, but I just thought it might be a fun flair to develop him a little further.

I've no problem with this. Just remember to specify which item you're using as your primary-hand attack when two-weapon fighting.

Many apologies. Due to end-of-semester assignments, I won't be posting an update tonight; Too much left to do, and I need to try to get some sleep as well. Regular updates will resume once more tomorrow night.

Don't apologize, Agent. Your primary goal is to do well in school.

Grand Lodge

Seconded. RL comes first.

Thirded. Also, heading into finals week myself...shouldn't interfere with posting, but if I disappear for a day or two, that's why.

Grand Lodge

Real Life has jumped up and smacked me in the face recently. As a consequence my posting will be rather erratic for a bit as I only have access at work.

Agent,

Are we using Hero Points from the Advanced Hero Guide?

And on top of finals...my laptop just broke. Internet time will be quite limited until I get home on Saturday.

Chris Manos wrote:

No hero points, at least not at the moment; if everyone would like I'll consider including them, beginning with Seven Days to the Grave, but not before.

As an aside, I've been keeping track of all the loot you've gathered on my profile page. For now I've assigned the wand of magic missile to Crux and the inscribed ring to Grent. Crux is currently carrying Zellara's harrow deck, but I left the item unassigned as it's really more of a party resource.

Feel free to speak up if there's anything you want to claim; discussion about who gets what, how to split coin, and what should be liquidated can be handled here.

The Oil of Keen Edge and the Silversheen are most aptly used by a frint line person. Unless someone really wants them, I say we throw the bones for them.

I will be away for the Holidays but will have access to the internet most of the time. I am not sure if I will be able to post daily, but will try.

Don't worry about it too much; the holidays are a busy time for many, and as I'm sure you can tell, I'm rather busy as well. We'll keep moving as best we can over the next couple of weeks, and push to resume a regular update schedule in the new year.

Good morning, everyone. I hope your holidays went well, and that the new year began without any unexpected surprises. At least, no unwanted surprises.

I'm posting to give you a heads up that my holidays happenings have come to a close, and I'll be pushing to reestablish a regular update schedule. I'll also be tallying up group experience this afternoon; if the party hasn't leveled already, I imagine we'll be extremely close to doing so.

Going forward, Evred will not continue as part of the group. This leaves the party without a dedicated healer; my initial thought was to leave the opening available indefinitely, and allow the character to return should Evelyn seek to rejoin at some point. However, I have decided to instead leave this up to you.

If you would prefer, we can begin looking to recruit a player to fill the dedicated healer role. Alternatively, I can give the group opportunities to stock up on healing items; we've a couple of characters capable of using healing wands, and basic healing potions are readily available within Korvosa, at least for the moment. What are your thoughts?

I'm ambivilent to how the group wants to handle the loss of the healer. One of my original character concepts was a healer type. If needed I can retire Derrian, as we seem to have a good amount of front line fighters, in favor of a healer. Agent, I believe my original concept was an Oracle, but would have to go back and revisit the concept. I will see if I can do this in th enext couple days , in case we do want to switch.

Grand Lodge

I'm good with that or getting in another player.

Agent, what are your thoughts on an Old character?

Male Human Fighter

I think we have kind of a larger party anyways, so swapping characters might be a good way to address that - make it a little easier to challenge us.

OK I should have a healer type up by the end of the weekend. I have a good start to one, but have to finish up.

Agent,

A couple questions I had. I have a concept for an Old character. What are your thoughts? It's not a concept breaker if you would prefer not to. Your choice.

Second, as you mentioned we most likely are going to level up, what level would you like this character made up at?

Thanks

Sorry for not responding earlier. I've had good experiences with older characters, but really, really bad as well. So long as you can conceive a reason for an older character to be at such a low level, and so long as that character will not be a indifference to the rest of the party, I've no issue.

The character will begin at the same level as the rest of the party. My apologies for not getting the experience tabulated earlier this week. Getting my parent's house ready to paint has been a bit of a nightmare, but I think we're finally ready to go. Hopefully we can get them moved back in before February.

like I said it isn't a character breaker.

The idea is he is a Shoanti Oracle of Life, who was born in the Cinderlands but left or was exiled due to his lameness, came to Korvosa and has been a panhandler since, depressed at the loss/exile from his tribe. He has a gift for prophecy and has discovered a knack with the Harrow Deck. He tends to drink too much because of his depression and separation from his people, but he was drawn here by a vision. What that vision is, I leave to you.

M Shoanti Oracle 2

This is my new character to replace Derrian. I have dropped the Old. As he is a child of the streets, I placed him in Old Korvosa, which may help you tie him into the group as they travel to pick up Tael's equipment.

Please let me know if you have any issues with the character. I used the standard 20 point buy. I did take a little liberty with his money to buy him a harrow deck, as well as his armor and weapon. I hope you don't mind. I can always drop the armor if needed.

I'll choose a profile pic soon. I figure this will be a good place for Derrian to bow out. Agent, as always you are free to do with him as you please.

Grand Lodge

I was just looking at Derian and was wondering why not alter his background a bit to make him a cleric or oracle? I have no problem with you changing characters, but this way we don't have to get a new character into the group.

That is up to Agent on how he wants to work it.

I'm fine with the new character, though I'm not seeing any equipment at this point. I would also accept a redesign of Derian, but ultimately the decision is yours, Chris.

personally I feel that just magically changing Derrian into the new character, calling him Derrian and having him be an oracle instead of a Sable Company marine seems odd. These are two very separate and different characters in my head. I could see how the Sable Company could use a healer as a combat medic, but I would think they would be guarded very closely and not loaned out to other efforts.

Equipment was easy...Hide Armor, Club, Harrow Deck and Commoner clothing.

If the group needs a healer, I would prefer to play Akari the Oracle, instead of trying to rewrite Derrian's background.

Agent, I don't know if you want to assume they picked me up in Old Korvosa and we'll write the story of that later, or if you want me to be at the Citadel and 'assigned' to them when they come in.

I'll just need a Harrow Card like everyone else.

Grand Lodge

My suggestions on the loot acquired thus far is to basically sell it off with a few exceptions.

Zellara's harrow deck held by Crux
5 pp, 100 sp, 200 cp divide among group
6 gold ingots bearing the Korvosan royal seal (100 gp each) divide among group
Flail sell
Small kukri sell
Lamm's masterwork light crossbow Crux
Light crossbow with 9 bolts sell
Masterwork shuriken (Lamm's cache) sell
Adamantine arrowhead (Lamm's cache) give to Kazadarin or Taelreth
Light wooden shield sell
Studded leather armor sell
Small studded leather armor sell
Disguise kit sell
Abalone-shell holy symbol of Shelyn (Lamm's cache) return to temple
2 lb gold ingot bearing the Cheliax coat of arms (Lamm's cache) sell
Highly realistic and highly scandalous ivory figurine of two entwined succubi (Lamm's cache) sell
Miniature gold crown (Lamm's cache) sell
Fist-sized scrimshaw carving of a kraken with garnets for eyes (Lamm's cache) sell
Narrow teak cigar case inlaid with tiny bits of jade (Lamm's cache) sell
Silver coffer with velvet lining (Queen Ileosa's reward)sell

Wand of acid splash (25 charges) sell
Oil of keen edge (1 dose) didn't someone get this?
Silversheen (1 dose)didn't someone get this too?

Grand Lodge

That reads pretty ok to me - although the wand? Maybe keep it for a spellcaster and a little more variety?

I think the keen edge oil and silversheen we're holding onto but haven't officially given to anyone. Kaz or I are the two best bets, being the front-liners - any others I'm forgetting?

I agree with all the above, apart from the wand. It may be useful to a spellcaster.

Keen Edge and Silversheen should go to Grent and Kaz.

Grand Lodge

I meant to ask for that one for me, Crux. It's only a little thing, but it would free up a spell slot for something else.
And for the Harrow cards, I mean that Crux is only holding them. He doesn't consider them his. I think that Zellara handed them to him. So he's only holding them for the group, unless someone else wants to.

Kaz picked up Lamm's MW Dagger.

Alright then, after liquidating the unneeded loot, and adding it to the coin on hand, everyone's share should be 1pp, 225gp, 25sp, 40cp, and one 100gp-value gold ingot; I divided the sixth ingot into coin and split it amongst the party.

Lamm's masterwork crossbow and the wand of acid splash will be assigned to Crux. Though carrying Zellara's harrow deck, the item is more of a party resource and NPC in its own right.

The adamantine arrowhead, oil of keen edge, and silversheen are retained and to be split between Grent and Kaz. I'll let you decide which character receives what.

You will be at the Citadel upon the others' arrival, having come in the company of an NPC for the purpose of joining the group in preparation of tasks that are to come (not the best foreshadowing, but it will do). For now, I'll just shift Derrian's harrow card to Akari. At the next harrowing, the oracle will receive his own fortune; I imagine the character will find Zellara's current state of existence rather fascinating.

If you would like, you are free to select additional gear equal in value up to no more than 200gp, to equalize your footing somewhat with the rest of the party. That said, you are free to retain just your current gear to better represent your character's background, as you see fit.

Kazadarin will take the arrow head (will take bow as rager to be switch hitter) I dont care wich of oil of keen edge, and silversheen I recieve. I think Gent and Kaz both have the same crit range with our weapons so the keen edge wouldnt matter to much except for our actual damage if we do crit.

sounds good Agent. I'll see about getting more gear. As you mentioned, I doubt it will be anything really too over the top.

Are we getting half price for our items, or are we just strait buying?
I dont have my prices with me but will update tonight.

When selling personal gear you will get half price, as a baseline. If you want to take the time you can haggle for a better price with Diplomacy, or other skills used creatively as the situation permits. Though you should know a poor roll can result in the gold you receive being below that half-way point. Haggle at your own risk; sometimes the merchants will get the better of you.

It is time to continue once more. I've posted the first update of the next section of the adventure, with an explanation for Daerrian's absence. Akari is waiting within Citadel Volshyenek, and will be introduced to the rest of the party in short order.

Male Human Fighter

Hey, sorry about the unexpected absence - it's been a really crazy couple of days here (evidently now I'm a sleepwalker!) and now I have friends from out of town visiting. I will update as things die down.

M Shoanti Oracle 2

Agent, how do you want me to handle my daily harrow drawing for the Harrowed feat? I've got a Harrow deck on order, but am not sure how you would like me to handle it?

Thanks

The first time you post each day in game, doll 1d6:

1 = Strength
2 = Dexterity
3 = Constitution
4 = Intelligence
5 = Wisdom
6 = Charisma

M Shoanti Oracle 2

Ok using the extra 200gp you offered, I purchased some potions and some random other gear. I also noticed that I had added an extra spell known for high Charisma, instead of adding an extra spell per day. I dropped Shield of Faith.

Paging Mr. Daumari, come in Daumari...

GM Agent: Your Legacy of Fire game is missing you.

F Elf Bard (Arcane Duelist)

I probably won't be able to post this weekend--should combat break out, Taelreth will use inspire courage.

You did make mention of a half plus one, right?
