Existing mob template or something?

The last few games in my campaing where pretty much a wilderness trip from point A to point B with many encounters and intrigues in between.
The players were followed by a minor land owner and some members of his court.

when fight occured i simply ruled that the court members where ganging around their lord to protect him and the rear flank of the pc's.
That simply not to slow each rounds to an halt having too much low power npc in the melee!

Is there some sort of template or global stats for a group of not so important npc so that they could still swing their sword here and there?
I'm thinking about something more like a swarm template that i would call a mob!

1 pool of HP
1 attack
1 dmg
etc....

DMG2 has a Mob template, if you feel inclined to hunt it down. Green Ronin's Advanced Bestiary has some swarm-like template as well, iirc.

There are two options you could use:

The Mass Combat rules from AP #35 (War of the River Kings), or the Mob Template from WotC's Dungeon Master's Guide 2.

The Mass Combat rules have the advantage of being in a Pathfinder RPG product rather than needing conversion from 3.5.. Plus it's an excellent adventure too :)

The advantage to the Mob template is that it's actually meant to be used that way, and doesn't require you to learn a new set of rules if you're not otherwise going to use the Mass Combat rules.

The Mob Template is actually very good. It's basically an adaptation of the Swarm creature type that you can apply to small or larger creatures. I don't think it needs much converting, the swarm rules are pretty similar in both PF and 3.5. I might compare the two just to be sure/
