Spell list

Round 1: Magus

Grand Lodge

Okay that spell list needs some work. The reason the bard as a 6 level caster works is that some of the higher level spells for full casters are lower level for the bard so they can get access to them at around the same time as the full casters. This needs to happen with the magus as well. For instance, greater shout and irrestible dance are 8th level spells for wiz/sorc that is 6th for bards. Bards get greater heroism one spell level sooner, etc etc.

At least in my analysis in the Magus vs EK thread, Magus's specials (particularly Spell Combat) seem to be strong enough to justify not getting significant early entries while still being balanced.

The biggest issue I see with the spell list is that it fails to take advantage of most of the existing touch spell. Even with a lot of new touch spells probably being added that we haven't seen, it seems strange that they don't use more of the ones that already exist.

I tend to agree with this. Vampiric Touch has been a standard must -have for any gish who can channel spells through his weapon for a very long time. When you are a mid-BAB class you NEED to be able to bolster your hit points in combat.

Yeah vamp touch and giant form spells really should be something a magus can cast.

I would even go so far as to consider the inflict spells. Granted, they are technically divine spells, but if the bard can have some carry over, why can't the magus, especially when that line of spells fits the class perfectly?

I have the same problem with the magus.
He lacks spells, mainly damaging spells with touch-range.

Altough I'm pretty sure that the book itself will have such spells, they aren't one the spelllist yet.

+1 for the vampiric touch and inflict spells.

I like the idea of giving him mage armor one the spell list. It would also be pretty cool to see the class be able to have a better casting of it as a magus arcana, maybe add half int bonus then full int bonus at a later level?

Ranged touch spells and the ability to go into the weapon to attack people with.

And for a random add, I'd like to see dimension door on the spell list.
