Please help me brainstorm.

If a paladin detects evil on some poor fighter, and the guy registers evil, but he really isn't, he's just wearing a non-magical necklace made from the crown that was worn by an evil lich, so the crown has a seriously evil aura that's covering up the fighter's good aura, and the paladin tries to smite evil on the fighter, does that make the paladin evil?
If you butter one side of a paladin before pushing him off a cliff, how much wood could he chuck?
