What types of pre-made spell lists should I have?

Advice

As a wizzard I like to have a bunch of pre-made spell lists to speed things up. I can't help but feel like I am forgetting some important situations.

I have:

Combat
Utility
On the boat (specific to the campaign.)
Research
Divination

Anything else you guys can think of?

Thanks.

perhaps you should split up "combat", to focus on non-spellresistance spells, or anti-mage spells, defensive-spells

anyway, just ideas, it depends on how many lists you want to have.

Depending on your campaign, or knowledge beforehand, even specific spells against monsters. But only if some monstertypes tend to show up, and you know it.

For general purposes, I'd suggest:

Wilderness / Open Area (dangerous)
Wilderness / Travel (non-threatening)
Dungeon / Enclosed-Area (dangerous)
Urban (dangerous)
Urban (non-threatening)

IMHO these are sufficient for most SOP purposes, and what I generally counsel my Players to prepare. You can then tailor then slightly case-by-case, for example slight alterations turn Urban (n-t) into "Utility" or "Research" or whatever from your list.

HTH,

Rez

Thanks, that helped a bit.
