How long till you complain on Ebay?

Off-Topic Discussions

I bought some stuff on ebay a week ago today, with next-day delivery. but it is still to arrive

I emailed the guy this morning (with 100% positive feedback) asking if he had sent it yet, but no reply

so, the quest6ion is, how long till i raise this as an issue with ebay. i paid through paypal, so i should get my money back one way or the other, if i get no item

anyone got experience?

I would complain ASAP, I have never had an issue but I am not the type of person to sit and take it. Yes it could always show up tomorrow but if you paid to have it here today and it is not, you need a refund.

I have brought a case to Ebay about a similar event. I was refunded my money about 10 days later.

he had replied

just to let me know he is "out of the country" but will look into it on 8th october - but didn't say if he dispatched it before he went or not

We just have to remember that ebay sellers are people with lives too...

And with 100% feedback, chances are he had a good reason...

He may have left the country because of business, or even for some "frivolous" family vacation...

So my question is: how do you tell your "significant other" or boss for that matter, that you can't leave the country right now because someone just bought the item you listed on ebay??

Just something to think about...

The flip answer is, you don't put something ON ebay knowing you can't meet your "immediate delivery" pledge

It doesn't matter what his excuse is. Your stuff was supposed to be delivered days ago.

File a complaint on eBay immediately.

A real seller will apologize to you. And a dick will cry:
o come on give me a break
o I am super busy
o I didn't have time
o my wife was on my back
o I had to go out of town
o my car had a flat tire
o the wind knocked over a tree in my front yard
o it was raining
o I didn't get the email
o It's not my fault, charlie didn't tell me about it

wha wha whaa... (like a baby)

+1

I've dealt with some of these types of sellers before. I've gotten the 'gee I'm super busy' twice. I hate it when they email back with some lame excuse. I had a guy trying to tell me once that he had emergency liver surgery (when I could see he had been posting up other stuff and selling it all along). If you are selling stuff, and offer next day shipping, you best be prepared to deliver. Otherwise, have a freakin' yard sale.

Of course, you are dealing with amateurs when buying on eBay, so that's what one of eBay's functions is: To give you support and mediation when there is a dispute. Plus, you can give him a nice negative feedback if he jerks you around too much.

Well, I sincerely hope that if you ever make a promise and your life gets into the way of you delivering that promise, that nobody ever makes you eat those words above...

Most ebay sellers are indeed armatures, and a good deal of them can be flakes. But we get so caught up with "I want what I want when I want it, and that's all that matters!" that we forget that we too are imperfect (I know I forget that sometimes)...

*EDIT*

Don't get me wrong, there is indeed a time and place to cry foul. As I said above, a good deal of ebay sellers can be flakes...

I'm just saying, give him a chance to explain himself and don't just automatically jump to any conclusions...
