Treantmonk's guide to APG

Advice

I was wondering if anyone has put together anything similar to the various guides for the APG classes?

ogre has one for the alchemist on the forum. Thats the only one I know of. I am hoping Treantmonk does one for Witches myself.

Where is that TreeMinky!

I'm really waiting on an Inquisitor guide, I don't get how he can become a really useful asset in fights. A bard is better in almost everything they can do. Or am I missing something?

It would also be useful to revisit the older classes with the APG options.

I've been playing an Inquisitor from first level, up to 7th at the moment. Virtually every ability they have is designed towards modular combat bonuses. After 7 levels, there has not be a *single* fight I haven't contributed to meaningfully, and in particularly difficult fights I can pull out the entire bag of tricks and become a silver bullet for whatever the threat is.

That said, optimizing them (or just effective builds in general) is rather similar to the Bard in many ways. Build them for ranged combat or as a melee skirmisher. I prefer a skirmish build myself as the Solo Tactics ability supports it nicely. Dazzling Display is a no-brainer for virtually any Inquisitor build.

Well, its something of a matter of preference. Obviously, the flavor is quite different. Further, while the Bard has decent buffs for the group, the Inquisitor has numerous, often better benefits for himself that can be tailored to situations. My Inquisitor's Judgments for fast healing and energy resistance have saved his life. Plus, they're all swift actions which allows the Inquisitor to get into the fight after buffing faster than Bards (until higher levels when the Bard catches up).

The Bard gets some skill bonuses but the Inquisitor gets them, too, including big bonuses to Intimidate and Sense Motive. As Orannis notes, they're great for anyone that wants to use Dazzling Display, especially if you make room for Intimidating Prowess and have a decent strength.

Oh and who doesn't love Stalwart (Evasion for fort and will).

I keep thinking about writing a guide for Inquisitors but Halo: Reach just came out and everything in life is going to take a back burner to that for a while.

I'd say there is a good chance of that happening... unless of course a recent death of someone's witch character has soured them on the class altogether :)
