No, Summon Natures Ally IV is the earliest spell that allows you to summon a Dire Bear. Using Summon Monster you would have to have access to SM VI before you get a dire bear.

except for the special expanded list they give in one of the AP's. #32 page 71 according to AofN.

Yeah... I don't know about that but the Core Rulebook will always take precedence over other material, esp when there is a rules conflict.

Do you mind linking to your source so I can review it?

http://www.archivesofnethys.com/spellsUnique.htm according to 3.0 this is legal to use

Ahh, I see, it is a bonus from your religion based on who you worship.

Regardless that book it is from is 3.5 material and is not part of the core rules. I wouldn't suggest using much from paizo materials other than the fluff and world info because it was not created for the PFRPG system, and in would quite possibly unbalance things.

in a home game i could see this, but for PFS it is listed as legal, or at least on AofN site, trying to find someone who owns the ap who can verify this for me before someone shows up and says they can

Looks like that might be a typo on the website. The AP says that its a dire boar, not bear. And only for clerics of Erastil.

Did you email Blake on this? He's pretty quick about updating errors once they are pointed out.

I have not. I was not even aware of this site until the OP mentioned it.

Ok, I emailed him, Blake (aka Karui Kage) is usually pretty quick to clear up that sort of thing.

Scarab Sages

Typo fixed. Thanks for the email Dennis!
