How can one detect a curse? The Heal skill, detect magic or simple guessing? I couldn't find an answer. Perhaps somebody knows.

Spellcraft?
Yeah, if its a magical effect like Bestow Curse you should be able to Spellcraft it as it takes effect. Or Detect Magic.
If it's a disease (Mummy Rot), a Heal check should do it.
ditto for an injury (Lycanthropy).
Lycanthropy and Mummy Rot are also supernatural diseases, so they should detect as magic as well, thinking about it.
So, Heal or Spellcraft/Detect Magic depending on circumstance.
If its magic its usually knowledge arcana (spellcraft's red headed stepchild)to see it once its in place.
Nothing wrong with giving something multiple avenues of discovery, your pc's will thank you.
