Hey there, new to the message boards, yadda yadda yadda. Got a question for you guys.
I'm having an argument with someone about the eidolon's maximum natural attacks.
He states that the claws evolution, which gives 2 attacks, counts as 1 for the purposes of calculating the maximum number of natural attacks. I take the other side, that the claws evolution counts as 2. Thus, a 1st level Summoner's eidolon can have a bite and 2 claws, making it the max of 3.
I just wanted to see if anyone else has his view, or if there was errata/clarification for it. It seems to me common sense, but you never know.

It states explicitly that the claws evolution gives two attacks.
"...giving it two claw attacks"
Two attacks. Simple. At 1st level you can claw/claw/bite, assuming you buy or start with bite, and buy or start with claws. You can't go over that.
In fact, if you are at a level where you have 4 attacks and you have a quadruped base (which comes with a free bite), and you buy a pair of arms and of course have your legs, you can put your first pair of claws on either the arms or the legs. The second pair you can't even BUY, because it would give you 5 attacks, not until 9th level.

A second question, and I could potentially see it going both ways. If you grab the Limbs (arms) evolution and take Improved Unarmed Strike as a feat, then grab the Energy Attacks evolution, do your unarmed strikes deal the +1d6 energy damage?
I seem to remember reading somewhere that unarmed strikes are not considered natural attacks for purposes of feats and spells. I also cannot check right now, so can anyone enlighten me?
