Upon reading closely the Alchemist, I noticed that Potent Bomb is gone. And no word about it being removed either.

Was it removed to being to powerful? A small change could make it viable if so. Like an Eidilon's Natural armor mutation, just make it where it can only be taken once every 5 levels.

Yes, it was intentionally removed. My guess is the reasons are 2 fold. First being that it just plain made the alchemist more powerful by baseline, something they do not need. Second is that it was one of the discoveries that were considered (Rightfully so) mandatory, therefore effectively robbing the class of a discovery instead of offering variety. Plus it was a really boring discovery.

Maybe they can add some additional discoveries in later books that increase the damage die by one step: 1d6 to 1d8 (must be 8th level), 1d8 to 1d10 (must be 14th level), or 1d10 to 1d12 or 2d6 (Grand Discovery).

Just out of curiosity, what was the original sourcebook for the Potent Bomb?

I'm guessing a playtest.
